Scott, good instruction. I have found over the years that printing is as much a specialty skill as photography. I do some printing here on an Epson Pro 3880, but mostly send them out to an online print company. I picked a couple of companies I like and then use their profiles. Once set up I send in a few tests and they mail 8x10 prints that I hold up and compare to my Lightroom image. Once satisfied that everything looks good, I can then order the larger prints with confidence. I have found that I keep my monitor on the bright side so I have to boost the brightness on the print or else it will be a bit darker. I use a color checker for monitor calibration and it always has me dim my monitor, but I just don't like working that way so I boost just the brightness back up, but know the colors are accurate. Thanks, Ron

Thank you Scott for such an informative video. I just received my order of Red River paper today and can’t wait to get started. I’m very new to printing and very excited to see images that I’ve not only shot but printed myself.

I bought a new monitor and I used Calibrize to calibrate the monitor. I've noticed that Photoshop and Lightroom show the same colors, but the colors look quite different when I use Faststone Image Viewer, especially the reds. I've already enabled CMS. So which software isn't showing the correct colors and how should I fix this? Thank you.

I have looked everywhere to find a video on the process to acquire ICC codes, install them and an excellent outline of how to use them and lightroom to print on an epson with those ICC codes and non epson paper. This video is a must especially for old style darkroom people like me. One question, is there a standard to understand paper thickness. so for example 250 gsm does that suggested a paper thickness. Is there a tip to determine how thick can a sheet feed holder can handle or will the pinter alert me, I have a new SC 900 (906 here in New Zealand)

Thanks

Any idea, why I the installed profiles will not appear in Lightroom on Mac OSX? I put them in the Library and also the Mac ColorSync Utility shows them. But in Lightroom, no chance...

I don't see "Printer settings" in the bottom left of Lightroom Print module. Is this an option that only shows on macOS? I'm on Win10. I see similar settings if I go through: Printers & Scanners -> Printer Properties -> Preferences, including options for ICC profiles.

If it matters, I have a Canon Pixma MX922.

Hi Scott what red river paper do you think would be best for large 17inch rolled paper for wildlife close up I have a Epson surecolour p900 and I have the colour checker studio for icc profiles and large landscapes if you could help it would be very helpful thanks mark

Hi there, I just purchased a Canon Pixma Pro-200 and some test sheets from Hahnemühle. Going on their website, I’ve downloaded the icc profiles, but they also have .am1x files that can be loaded directly onto the printer via an app called “Media Configuration Tool”. I realize that you’re running an Epson and this is Canon, but is it necessary to install these files straight onto the printer for the images to be printed properly? I am running Photoshop CS6 on iMac.

Really getting a lot out of this series. I always have trouble trying to decide which type of paper to use based on the type photo I have. Some look better on glossy, some on matte, and some look better on metallic. How do you select which paper to use?

Hi Scott i have canon Prograf 300. In the printer setting in LR I dont see all the options you have ...and when i choose the paper(icc) on the right side in LR it tells me to turn off the col management in print dialogue....but in print dialogue I dont have anything like that ....any thoughts ?

Great video for a new Epson p600 owner :) But why the 1440 ppi? I get the 1440 DPI. But shouldn't it be fine with 360 ppi for an Epson printer?

I have the same exact printer as you and when I am in the Printer dialog box just like in your video in LR I do not have the "Color Matching" option. I've spent hours trying to figure out why and can't come up with anything?! I have an iMac Pro running 10.14.6

super tuto ! for the first time we see the different tab contents. For instance i see you expand at max. always worried about warning from this slider.
nice to see you adjust size of cell because i always wonder why it doesn't fit the size i selected.
i see you are using perception and low sharpening for P800. correct ?
have you seen the thin white border on bottom. i always have that. not obvious to cut it out straight with the "massicot" (ie DAHLE 507). do you do that ?
are printer setup and settings included in the print template ? i ask this for two reasons :
- i have a new pc and i copied my lr print presets and they are weird
- everytime i use my 13x18cm template i open page setup and print settings to be sure we are in right config and sometimes it isn't (I think).
Let's proceed with next tuto "soft proofing now" :-)

The "PRINT SETTINGS" option in Lightroom on the bottom left corner doesn't have the same pop up screen as shown in your tutorial when I click it. It's much more basic and doesn't have the paper options. I'm not sure why.

Hi Scott, aside from choosing the ICC profile, is there anywhere else to specify that LR is managing colour? Just seen the ! exclamation comment at the bottom of Colour Management.
