Hydroplaning at over 100mph. Almost Crashed!

This happened on a race track (Palmers MA) in a HPDE event. Rain intensified in the course of a lap and standing water developed on the straights. Previous lap was fine under the same speed. Stability control was on and saved the day.

On brand new Michelin Pilot SuperSports high performance summer tires.

If you listen closely, you can hear all 8 cylinders — *you have saved our lives, we are eternally grateful*

video, but awesome work with the wheel, you kept that car away from the walls!

Beautiful. A real YouTube video that is exactly what the title says. No 19 minute video of complete bs for a 5 second clip

Man I’ve been on track in heavy enough rain that corner apexes changed every lap based in the size of the puddle sitting on it. Great save, hoped the poo wiped clean off the seat without too much scrubbing.

That little rough patch he hit helped massively

Look at all the driving instructors in the comments.

"Well done chap, good placement of the hand upon the steering apparatus. Most splendid. Might I also add, if I may, I couldn't help but notice your excellent posture and positioning as you seat yourself upon the throne of your chariot. Bellisimo. Why, the footwork on it's own is the work of fables, ballads, and epics. It goes without saying, your modifications are up to spec as well. We needn't speak of it."

Nice correction but idk why you’d try that when it’s wet. I’m scared to even do the speed limit when it’s wet

Extremly hard to correct. The oversteer started off throttle, so adding a tiny bit of throttle helps. But its easy to over correct with 420 hp

that gravel on the side was your saving traction.

And this, kids, is why you always drive in a proper seated position

Dudes got skill, I'm a long time racing person, love everything about it and I have taken the skip Barber roush course over 15 times, nothing like having fun on the track but I've experienced something similar to this going about 135 in my srt and it definitely puckers up the donut hole

happened to me on a highway, I can't describe that feeling

This happened to me at about 75-80 mph. A small dip in the road followed by a puddle of water + turbocharged RWD car. I wasn't as lucky since I had the barrier to my left and no room to correct it. Ended up hitting the opening of a barrier and totaling the car. But I walked away without a scratch. Thank you BMW.

That's the right way of dealing with traction stay calm and don't slam the brakes it will just make it worst, amazing job 👏

I’m guilty of turning off traction control in the rain and almost crashing

I did 65 for 2 seconds in an e46. Steering wheel wanted to throw itself out the window but I held it a little bit in the opposite direction while my car lost 15mph haha

Shit now that I'm thinking about it the puddle was so deep and how it felt I might've been a boat for those 2 seconds 🤯
