Hey homies! Wanted to do an updated video on some new things I recently learned about getting a keratin hair treatment. Although I'm sharing things to beware of, make sure to do your own research to see if keratin is right for your hair type.

Thanks for putting out this video. Not a lot of people know that keratin treatments aren’t for all hair types, particularly if you are low porosity. I’m a high porosity girlie like yourself and will be doing my first keratin treatment at the end of this month. I can’t wait!
I’ve also been looking into Japanese Hair Straightening as it seems like a much better alternative to a relaxer. It’s still a chemical and permanent process though so definitely do your research before making the switch but apparently it’s safe to do it with a keratin treatment in your hair. I’ve been natural all my life so all of this is uncharted territory for me but I think if all goes well with the keratin treatment, I might do the JHS next cause I’m tired of all of the high porosity frizz and not being able to keep a silk press for longer than a day since I sweat in my hair. All the best on your journey!

Please don’t do the Japanese hair straightening. I was natural for 8 years. Long healthy hair. Was convinced after loads of research to do it. And I loved it at first. I waited 7months (maybe too long) to do the regrowth. My hair had grown though it was a nightmare to deal with two different textures I had no breakage. However after my second treatment my hair broke off in clumps. I had a chemical cut at the roots and loads of breakage in between. I waited another 6months before i eventually just cut it ALL off. It was devastating. The stylist has a great reputation for doing Japanese Straightening, but I wonder how many come forward to admit they had breakage. She also knew I had breakage and was suggested it was down to my aftercare- like not steaming and deep conditioning enough. It’s been nearly 2years since I chopped it off and my hair just isn’t the same not yet anyway. Did I love it at the time- hell yes, do I regret it, absolutely!! And it’s not cheap!!

Another option is Botox for Hair. My stylist said that Botox for Hair was better for my hair than Keratin.

The bottom 6inches of my hair is all the keratin treated hair from October 2022 and it tangles so bad when washed and its so see through. My stylist just trims as little as we can get away with right now every 6 months or so. I will just opt for a relaxer. Thought I was doing something getting keratin 🤦🏽‍♀️

The thing with keratin is the builup over time. You can try to only do the new grow and only do the whole hair once a year or so

I recently did keratin on my hair (the one where they straighten it immediately after and tell you to wait for three days) and they had told me it’d be good because my hair is both curly and frizzy.
They said it wouldn’t be frizzy anymore but, even after I did what I should have, it still looks very frizzy, just wavy/straight-ish
I regret it and I don’t know why I was so obsessed with getting one, and I’m supposed to have it again in 4 months (but I’m not going to). Do you think there is hope for the curls to come back?

I did the Japanese hair straightening treatment and it broke my hair out. No matter how much I tried to take care of it. I ended up having to cut it off and start over

Hey I've been trying to find a black salon near me that can do this. Do you have any tips on how to find good ones?

Thank you for this thoughtful advice, my producer is getting my wavy japanese/srilankan hair silk pressed in order for it to be dead straight. Not sure if I should do silk press or keratin treatment? I was suggesting keratin because I thought it would be better for my hair.

Sierra, you look beautiful. Come through tan. Unfortunately I have low porosity hair and keratin treatment is a no no.

Hi Sierra, I came across your video and I was wondering if you could recommend any shampoos or hair masks for Keratin treated hair ( curly African hair )?
Thanks !

Hi, just wanted to ask that I have type 4b hair and if I take the keratin treatment will I be able to achieve 3c/3b hair? will this treatment loosen the curls of my hair and make them more wavy?

How often do you do your keratins. I just bought the GK Hair keratin treatment (the best). It’s formaldehyde free. Juvexin is a plant extract used. I hope i didn’t butcher the name of that lol. I was recommended to used it once every six months. I also wanna be a straight natural and did that for a few months earlier this year but I think a keratin will help with that. Now I’m concerned that my hair can be damaged even if I do the treatment once every 6 months.
