When I worked as a teller we had a guy who would buy a box of pennys every week. He would make a few extra hundred dollars every month, and would just redeposit all the non-valuable pennys

so I might have missed it but say for instance someone does find a rare coin, what would be some of the steps someone should take? (like who to contact, where to contact how to preserve etc..)

I have unopened rolls of these. One roll, the ends have a green swirl or circle on the coin. Not patina or plastic... a very bright green like the coin is damaged.

Not sure if it's simply damage done after the mint or plating error or what? I can't find anything on it or if it's worth anything.

I found a shield penny with what it seems to be either letters or some kind of die mark on the rim. I haven't a clue if it's an error but it's there and hopefully someone can expound on this.
