2013 Lincon MKS temp+ button issue

2013 Lincoln MKS has a known issue with the touch panel for climate and audio control. The temperature + button on the driver's side goes off without being touched. The replacement is currently unavailable from Lincoln and there are no firmware updates to truly fix the issue.
The "refrigerant" in the video is a can of compressed air with the tube cut short and held upside down. This releases the compressed liquid which causes a super cooling affect. This will not permanently fix the issue but stop the unwanted behavior. I have had it come back after 5 - 10 minutes but the second treatment seems to keep it from recurring for the remainder of that trip.
I caution to be prepared to explain why you have a can of compressed air in the cup holder of your car if you happen to get stopped by Johnny Law. You might want to keep this video on "speed dial" to show the LEO. Apparently some people "huff" this stuff. Morons.

My 2014 MKs was doing this so I just punched the hell out of my control panel and it started working, so far I haven’t had any issues and it’s been almost 2 months

This solution also worked for erratic fan speed control. A can of Dust Off was cheaper than replacing the control panel. Thank you.

Today I removed the FICM and dismantled it using T20 torx bit. Put the electronic board aside and sprayed some electronic contact cleaner CRC on the back of the buttons, and blew with compressed air. Assembled everything and fixed it back, and most of the buttons are working fine now! Except for AC recirculation, which I didn't spray on.. could be just luck.

This been going on the runaway high heat. I finally fixed it i changed out all my fuses and relays. I know for about 3 week's now it's working perfect.🌿

Thanks Scott, for that information. Yes I am having the same problem with my MKS. I also had to replace my power steering pump, which is electronic, and it was a big cost. Ford should have had a recall for what I've read in the MKS reviews. Thanks again, I'm sure going to give that a try and will let you know if it works for me

Great video! i also have this issue with my 2013 low mileage Lincoln MKS, which i bought on March 2019. Six months later my climate control was going berserk, all the common issues with the FCIM is known to do. My problem is with FORD, why is a car barely 7 years old have a known defective part and its is DISCONTINUED!!! Isnt this a safety recall? I found one used FCIM on the internet, which once i had my mechanic remove the old one, we found out the part was also defective. Fortunately i found someone on EBAY, that was able to refurbish it. So far so good. i was told that the reasons that these FCIM go bad is that, owners of these cars, use dashboard cleaners like "Armor All" on the surface.
On another internet blog, they talk about this company that does repair work on clusters, modules, etc for FORD, UNITED RADIO, out of Syracuse, NY, wonder if anybody ever dealt with them? all other feedback's on these damned FCIM, will be appreciated.

I have a 2013 MKS, my button was doing the same. No joke, I gave the heat up button a mild punch, and it stopped instantly. The heat+ button no longer works at all anymore, but whatever, I can turn the heat on through the screen. Try it.

I had a 2014 but it was my volume control...the radio would intermittently go to max volume all by itself. The colored accent lighting would also reset to white by itself. The dealer changed the control panel and it fixed the radio but not the color change issue. Car ended up totaled so it's not a problem any longer.

I had the exact same problem and what I did was went into settings and did a factory reset. Now I only have that problem when I start car with remote so I just don't use it.

Has spraying it messed up the look of the panel at all over time? How often does yours beep? Mine only beeps like two times a week and I don’t want to make it beep more if that’s what’s going to happen.

My wife was due for a vehicle upgrade and I really wanted to get her the new Lincoln mkc. When I seen it had touch sense buttons I told her that car was a big nono. Instead we went with a Ford escape that has manual buttons and that is the only way I'll buy them. Had too many issues with GM/Ford and touch sense phantom buttons, response was not good or lack there of. It may look futuristic and good on paper but in real life scenario it is not.

my 2014 mks started with radio channel search going off then it started effecting the heat always goes up then the fan would go to high my seat heater/air would turn on and my heated steering wheel will turn on by itself also. today I turn my heat control screen completely off but it immediately turned it back on. I only have 120, 000 miles on it. Dealer told me they will eventually lock on the screen for good he also said he has had customers say that when they have turned their car off for the day the screen will turn back on and when they go to drive it the next day the battery is dead.

My car is the opposite. The passenger side constantly drops the temperature to the lowest setting. Really annoying in Pennsylvania winters. How would I fix this??
