Would be a good site for a nuclear power station.

There's a large difference between no longer "needed" and no longer "wanted".

Here's a good idea, build a new and modern nuclear power plant.

It’s always nice to see reactors get decommissioned for actual good reasons, not for the public demanding coal over the “dangerous” nuclear reactors. I’m glad that it seems like they’re also planning on replacing it after it’s fully decommissioned.

They need it cleared and ready for redevelopment by 2027 so they can build a bigger and better modern one right? Right?

Right???

Great sight to build in a new nuclear plant.

Decommissioning nuclear power plants and expecting solar wind to be "cleaner" is wild

I worked at the decommissioning site for Three Mile Island Unit 2. Every project is a marvel of engineering and administrative order. Especially at TMI2, where there are trace amounts of raw fuel in unknown places inside the reactor building from when the core melted down.

Crazy thing is, US law mandates that these sites be turned back into greenfields, which happens. Just takes a while.

So the net environmental impact of a nuclear power plant from birth to death is, essentially: water vapor, low level waste, trace amounts of high level waste, and the disposal of the concrete. All except for the water vapor have controlled processes for ensuring they don't contaminate the environment.

Love the guy on the forklift carrying a drum of hazardous waste, with forks, by the lid. And if anyone cares, correct attachment is a barrel clamp. They make auxiliary attachments you can slide forks into or attachments integrated into the forklift carriage.

Good research material, to see the condition of materials in a nuclear reactor after it's usage

Very professional video, I was surprised to see your channel under 10k subs. Keep it up!

B1M I love you guys but - nuclear reactor is always needed. It's just its lifespan. Nothing can function forever.

If Dark taught me anything, it's that you should be cautious of entering any caves near a decommissioning nuclear power plant

I think it’s a good idea to at least decommission old Soviet reactors. I’m for nuclear energy, but the soviets did not have it right, and did it far too dangerously

With current power demands and availability of green options, we should be building new nuclear plants to equate to or improve upon the power generation of the decommissioned predecessors.

This channel gives good explanations.

Europe turning against nuclear power is such an awful idea.
