the youtube gurus make it look so easy when in fact its not. I mean sure, you have all the tools and stuff, but the amount of time you spend on a book is exhausting.

I have watched hundreds of YouTube videos, but I have editing and animation background. So when I jumped into this I had 80+ books ready to launch on Amazon. I have 40 already loaded on Amazon KDP in the past 2 months. And I make my own book covers. I was pretty stoked when I started getting sales days after I started my KDP journey.

Algorthms are the crux of this issue. Authors have to battle against AI automation. Being unaware of this is critical.

As with self made You Tube channels, the KDP writer will come across a David and Goliath scenario wherby he or she must confront a faceless enemy. It takes years and years of experience to understand how algorthms work, and even then, they can still trip you up.

You gave me good advice as I am writing my first KDP book now on a 100% unique subject. Yes, unique. I researched the market. This is no other book on this subject.

Amazon (KDP) uses an AI to look over the books and to make determinations. It's ironic that thier AI blocks a book for using AI to write one.

I've just gone through two month-long mess with KDP after multiple months of selling a few hundred copies each month and five star ratings across the books.

Multiple attempts to communicate with the compliance department resulted in multiple responses answering questions that I didn't ask.

This has led me to the conclusion that most if not all compliance department communications are a result of an algorithm identifying keywords in an email and auto generating a scripted response.

Amazon being Amazon is almost certainly outsourcing most of this work to India or similar.

I even provided them with the quoted rules from their own KDP site, only to have the compliance team require me to take action that was in contradiction to their rules as stated.

Wonder if you think some of your published books need to have their own spaces online to connect with buyers? Book publishing is changing rapidly on KDP.

The reason you are seeing a lot of books with the exact same name is simple.
They are attempting to grift off the success of the initial book by hoping the people looking for the original, pick up theirs instead.

I've only heard about KDP's algorithm requiring people to publish once a month to maintain visibility lately. If true, that has contributed to people trying to find short cuts.

I really hate how algorithms have taken over all wakes of online existence. (Even if it did pop up this video for me.. 😅) Right now, I just publish my own (as in, I bind my own books). Giving them away to friends.

What a leisurely start to this video. Wonderful to hear from people who have all the time in the world. Why not state the long-standing rules and then deal with the recently-made rules?

Review team replied with saying, "we’ve decided to uphold our previous decision and will not be publishing your title(s) at this time because the content might result in a disappointing customer experience."
They told me that they'll not be publishing my title (s) at this time.

Many times, the people who answer the chat do not know the reason, because they see the same unclear reason the content department wrote.

Using the term toolkit for my devotional journal happened as wellI changed the word to toolbox.. I explained via email and they allowed toolkit, but by then I had already changed it and uoloaded again and it was approved immediately. Once I changed and published, I couldnt go back to change the title! Very frustrating!

There is also account termination on merch by Amazon because they found many people have created accounts as influencers with high-tier. but in reality, they were beginners

Most of my first books were so horrible and they weren't selling. I unpublished at least 20 of them.
