My three keys to great Chex Mix are: I use my big, deep roasting pan. You have to get the seasonings on every piece, so you need lots of room. Second, I ALWAYS use GARLIC bagel chips. Third, I let the mix cool on layers of paper towel. This helps with crunchiness. Merry Christmas!

Anybody else make huge batches and freeze it? I’m amazed with how fresh tasting it is out of the freezer. I thought it would be soggy but it isn’t.

I make this all year round to sell at a farmers market, I make mine in a turkey foil roaster pan and it’s FULL, I use a box of Crispix, a box of all 3 chex mix, Rice Krispies, cherries, life cereal, cheddar cheese roll gold pretzels, and sometime goldfish crackers. My seasoning is: 1/3 cup Worcestershire sauce, about 1-2 tsp. Tabasco sauce, a tsp. Of each: celery salt, onion salt and garlic salt, 2 sticks of butter. I put all this in a saucepan until butter is melted and stirring constantly until starts to boil. Spoon over mixture, using a large spoon, a little at a time and stir after each addition until all seasoning and butter is mixed in. Bake in a 325 degree preheated oven for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes. Add a can of peanuts before the last 15 minutes and stir. After the 4th 15 min, remove from oven and stir, let cool overnight on counter. Bag up in the morning, seasonings will be better once cooled. If you like it spicier, add double seasonings and bake as above.

I make so much of this stuff. I literally use a whole box of each chex. To mix it I assemble it all in a new -garbage bag- large food safe bag like a bucket liner, pour in the butter mix and tumble the bag to coat everything. Then I dump it into two disposable turkey sized deep roaster trays. I start the second tray after 30 minutes. When the first one is done I dump it out on a parchment lined counter. I season with a blend of Mrs. Butter, fine ground black pepper and powdered jalapeno and leave it to cool for 30 min then it goes back into the tray and the second tray goes onto the counter... The day we have people over we just put out the trays with a stack of solo cups. There's usually none left at the end of the day. Some of my favorite add ins are Snyders nibblers (the garlic ones are perfect for this) Nagaraya garlic cracker nuts, White cheddar or hot and spicy Cheez Its, and Kirkland Praline Pecans or honey roasted peanuts if you want a little sweet, spicy and salty effect.

I grew up calling it Party Mix. We use a family recipe from the the 60s. We use different recipe using vegetable oil, Worcestershire sauce, seasoned salt, garlic salt and boat loads more of cereal, pretzels, and mixed nuts. It makes a huge amount. We have always used a big roasting pan with a lid. You bake it for 2 hours stirring every 30 minutes. You leave the lid off while baking and put it on and shake vs stir (Bond style)!

I buy the large aluminum turkey roasters to do double batches, works great while you are mixing them between bakes!

This is exactly how I make my chex mix, except I use cashews and I usually add a bag of some type of chex mix or a snack mix that has the rye toast and pretzels a few cheese doodles etc. But the sauce is exactly what I use. I love the butter and whostershire sauce and garlic. Awww, my mouth is watering!! I actually do have a huge cookie sheet and I use it a lot. Might want to invest in
one but I bake a lot of cookies especially during the holidays to share with my family and friends.

I also use a large black and white speckled roasting pan to make mixing easier. Also double the sauce mix and make it in a 4 cup glass measuring cup, easy to melt butter in micro and mix in your spices with a small whisk. Lawrey garlic salt is a must, also onion powder. Have been making this over 40 years!

I’ll always think of Chex mix as a Christmas food. We only had it at Christmas time, warm out of the oven. I think there were even commercials and magazine ads for it at Christmas time.

This sounds good. We use Goldfish Crackers instead if Cheeze Its and, as everyone is saying, also make it in one of those black speckled roasting pans.

We loved when you stuck your fist into the chex box instead of shaking them out. You are the best!

Great video, One of our favorite snacks as well. My life changed when I got a huge stainless steel bowl. Mix it in the bowl and bake in the same bowl. No escapees burning on the oven bottom! We use chex mix to clear out the small parts of snacks left in the pantry. Most anything you eat with soda or beer works well. Even saltine crackers are very usable if you add them last. (they will soak up more than their share if put in early)

Roasting pan. Worked GREAT. Super deep with plenty of room for tossing. ❤️

I used this recipe for Thanksgiving but I added 2 teaspoons of Onion Powder, 1 1/2 cups of Pretzel Twists, 1 1/2 cups of Gold Fish, 1 Teaspoon of Cayenne Pepper, 1 teaspoon of Liquid Smoke and a 3 to 5 shakes of Tabasco Sauce. Turned out This was my very first time making Chex mix and was very pleased with the outcome.

As a kid the wheat chex were not my favorite. Now I prefer them over the others. My Mom used her roasting pan like others have mentioned. I'll be making this tomorrow.

Really enjoyed your video. Inspired us to try making our own too. Should you decide one day to share your own recipe with us I'll definitely be taking notes. As good as this recipe looks, for your daughter to prefer yours it must be pretty darn good. Thanks for sharing it . 😊

Two grandsons (11 and 9) and I just made this using this recipe. They had lots of fun helping and all six of the grand kids as well as MeMe and I cannot keep our hands out of the bowl. Very good and easy to make treat. Thanks for sharing.

We used a large metal bowl to mix and then baked them on two large rimmed cookie sheets, and attempted to make it a single layer. Certainly will use this recipe again. Two thumbs up!!
