Story Summary :-
OP lived with her mom after her parents got divorced. Her mom hated her because she reminded her of her ex-husband, and OP grew up without having a good relationship with her mom. She kept in contact with her dad, though, and grew to love him over the years.

OP's mom starts dating a new guy, and OP really dislikes him. He claims to be rich, and OP's mom likes him because of his money. He later makes OP's mom choose between her and himself because OP's mom refuses to let OP go due to the money she gets for child support. In the end, to OP's dismay, her mom picks her new boyfriend over her.

OP's dad fights for custody after hearing the news and eventually wins. He stopped sending OP's mom child support as well. OP later discovers that her mom's new boyfriend is a fraud and a pedophile, and her mom reaches out for

help. OP abandons her mom to deal with her troubles, not caring what happens to her afterward.

It's sick how the courts 99% side with the women and give them custody even when the woman doesn't hide their disdain for her kids. What also angers me is when the parent Picks the new lover over their chid/children but keeps them only for the money, even when the child feels creeped out. Im so glad OP got to live with her dad and her mommy dearest ended up all alone and broken.

I'm confused as to why there was a custody battle over an adult 18 year old. Unless she's severely disabled and unable to live on her own due to it (for example, more debilitating forms of autism), this would never happen. She could walk out of her mother's house, and there'd be nothing anyone could do about it. Kind of shakes the validity of the story without further explanation of this discrepancy.

ETA I forgot about the child support. That stops at 18 years old as well, it just requires the dad to file with the court that he fulfilled his 6 they say "oh yeah, you're good now".

Only way all of this would make sense is if they were somewhere outside of the USA.

It's good that you learned early. I kept this BS going on with my mother until I was almost 40 and she listened in on one of my calls to the bank to transfer money to her, then waited a couple weeks and called pretending to be me and took my entire savings. A lawyer told me it would cost more than the 40, 000 she took to fight her in court trying to prove it and there were no guarantees. She listened to my call and took down all the correct information and her voice sounded enough like mine they believed it was me. Most likely the court would take her side saying I probably just regretted giving her all the money and that's why i was trying to get it back. So, yeah...if you have one of those parents, cut them off in the beginning because starting over at 40 is impossible if you're not a White collar worker or better

More girls (or even boys) need to listen to their gut. That little voice or uncomfortable feelings. Even if friends or family are saying it’s nothing or even normal and they are over thinking. You should never feel uncomfortable or have to second guess a person. And not just a “I don’t like this person” but that true intuition that comes in to play to protect us. Whether it be dating, a person themselves, a job a business opportunity. Trust your gut.
