Hi Martin, thanks for the videos they were a brilliant help whilst assembling both the spaceport and night city, we have done these together from start to finish and you have been a fantastic help . I was an engineer by trade and soon sussed out what to do so assembled both of them by the instructions and then checked step by step with you, which was a great help as there were a handful of things that weren’t very clear on the instructions .Just in case you haven’t noticed there were a couple of things that you didn’t do ( and this is in no way a criticism as your help has been much appreciated) like putting the extra sides on the lift buckets on the spaceport and it appeared that you may not have pressed the front right run fully down into its cradle were it meets the Perspex lift, also the upper film on the gold rokr logos peels off on both runs, just leaving the letters behind which looks a lot better, you probably have already sussed these things out . I sanded and assembled both my runs diagram by diagram and don’t know how you managed to remove everything, sand them and then remember what and where they went, utterly brilliant 👍🏻. I don’t know if you have had the same problem but every now and again on the spaceport the balls would leave the track on the two tilting buckets, the buckets were not tilting when the balls fell on . I rectified this by cutting to size and fitting a small piece of board (from the laser cut remnants ), to the back of the buckets to push the ball forward which then made sure the buckets tilted . Again thanks very much for your help . With your help we will be connecting both runs together soon . Kind regards Garry, Greater Manchester .

Great informative videos. I've seen videos from other people but yours is by far the best. Thanks.

Well I ❤ watching all 3 videos I must admit I don’t think I would have been able to do any of them without the great instruction off each step i honestly am looking forward to doing these now I just wish the loss of sound hadn’t happened on last video i only hope I can complete it thank you for doing your fantastic video

Thank you for your video, very useful! It helped me detect a mistake in my own puzzle.

I just finished building the connecting link kit watching your fabulous video. I plugged in the cord, tapped the start pad, and lo and behold to my amazement, everything worked, albeit slowly. A more powerful motor is a must! Many thanks to you, Martin, because without your video I would never have accomplished this project. I have a video of the Runs working but don't know how to attach it here. Once again, thanks, Martin.

I love the lights, its way brighter than what I was expecting, but that not my complaining on that LOL. It does slow down on the gears from night city other times it just stops (pause) then it goes again, I been rewaxing the gears mainly on the night city, but it could possibly be where u said part of the wood gear is rubbing against the moving gear. Im exciting that its done, going to add the marbles next. Thank you once again for the fun tutorials for the link, night city and spaceport... Now I have to decide what to do next LOL 🙂

Martin, great videos and I love that you have a continues step by step video, I have the 3 in 1 kit on Amazon cart but after I saw the end of this video it was disapointing that the motor is to slow and not enough torque. I been reading some of the comments that some people have the same problem I desited no to purchase the kit, unlese I see some of the videos of the upgrated motors and that the kit works as it should be.

Hi Martiin great videos ...very helpfull. Can I ask your opinion about the weak motor problem? So Rokr have sent me another motor which turns out to be the same🙄 Now I have two motors . Would it work better if I run them both together for more power ? Many thanks Ken Stoke on Trent UK

Great job and video.
For me the speed's okay. For sure the lift takes a lot of time, but all in all with the blue lights it's an awesome run.
Maybe you'll find a slighty longer belt for the city.

Hi Martin. Further to my comments on your other videos. Shame about the sound on this one but I still found it very useful. I have now completed all and done the link. All good APART FROM, as mentioned by lasislav below, yes it is running slower but now the lift on the spaceport is not working properly. It was fine before on both the motor and manually. I think it would be a right pain to dismantle everything to replace the motor but I will contact ROKR and ask. Has anybody had any success with this? Well done again though and thank you for your time and efforts.

An alternative approach would be to use a dc -dc boost converter to increase the 5v from the USB supply to the required level for the 12v motor. The output of the boost converter can be set to achieve the required speed. Just having a play with a test set up on my work bench to check current values etc but everything seems Ok. Whist this approach needs a little bit of electronics know how, it is actually very simple. Happy to supply more details if interested. Love your videos Martin, keep up the good work. Interested in how far your videos reach.... Well I am a million miles away in one of the remotest parts of the world. The Isle of Skye.🤣

Congratulations Martin for getting everything working!!
I am building spaceport now and I do have night city and the link kit already. I will be upgrading the motor as well.
Good job.

I purchased the following motor on amazon. I haven't received it yet and I imagine I will have to do a lot of things before it will work for me:
Greartisan DC 12V 100RPM Gear Motor High Torque Electric Micro Speed Reduction Geared Motor Centric Output Shaft 37mm Diameter Gearbox

Just came across this video because the motor that came with my spaceport died. It seems some of the teeth within the motor gearbox itself stripped so it now makes a grinding noise. I see from other comments that you can request a more powerful motor so I've done that and will try it when i build the link pack. If that ends up failing too, i will try a hack similar to you with a different motor.

Hi, just came across ROKR and am intrigued on this connected system. Has the motor been updated by factory, or would I have to change the motor myself? I know nothing about motor/electrical systems.

I finished finished Night City, there are still some areas that the marbles get stuck but I already went through it many attempts to fix and of course breaking a few fragile pieces but luckily fixable, but still works none the less, Im excited to get started on the link pack, just from the two I like Spaceport due to not having so many fragile pieces, Nightcity is simple design but very fragile in ways of putting it together.

So I finally assembled the Marble Spaceport kit, Night City and the Run Link connecting part. There are still some small things to figure out. But the main problem is the power of the electric motor. When turning the crank manually, everything was OK. But now it's annoying to lift the balls of the tower at the Spaceport part. Can you order and buy a replacement motor somewhere as a replacement for the original one, so that it can be used for a long time by simply replacing the original one with a new one. Thank you.
