I did face same problem with Latex/HTML format switch in Authorea. In order to use rich text instruments you need to switch the format in the document settings. It's like.. you are writing in Rich Text, then you need to insert a table with formatting a la x^2 - then you need to switch via several clicks to Latex, create table and them back to Rich text. at least it worked, however insane it sounds. Pity

I like overleaf and use it for most of my academic writing. But I hit a roadblock when it popped up with a message saying 'the file upload limit is 60 files'(for a free account). This would be problem for example in writing a thesis as one would most definitely use more than 60 files. I don't think Sharelatex has this limit which makes it a better option for me(as I am too starting on my master thesis). With regards to the pro account, overleaf still has limits in the number of files that can be uploaded but I don't think sharelatex has anything such.

HTML in Authorea is supposed to be a rich-text editor. You have to have your normal user settings set to HTML though. They just announced that they're releasing a new editor but it isn't available yet.

I guess people here might be interested also in Bakoma. It is again a latex editor, but from the research I've done so far, and the science people I asked, it is the one closest to WYSIWYG. And in general it is very Microsoft word alike - you can just press buttons for creating tables, drag-n-drop things, most intuitive among the latex editors. But sad side - it is paid-software, something like 50$ for private persons, 40$ for students. Though there is a free trial for 30 days. Might be hekpfull for some people, I will try the free trial in the next days

Try flowscience. I'm trying it. It's the newest in open science town...

You dismissed Sharelatex because it only does LaTeX, then as the video continued you learned that the other two only do LaTeX as well. How can you compare three things you've never even tried? By comparing number of Twitter followers? LAME!

Guys, please don't waste your time with this video. I have just lost 8 minutes of my life. The video will not inform you about anything relevant besides the fact that they are latex-based, and when they were created, and the number of Twitter likes.
