Carriers can't "counter each other". They haven't been build for that. On the other hand, carriers are a bad idea in a fight between world powers. They are swimming ducks waiting for hyper-sonic missiles to send them to the bottom. And they make pretty big targets, impossible to hide, easy to find.

Carrier group doctrine is sorely outdated. My country is still stuck in that 1940s Pacific theater dominance mindset. Huge targets with huge price tags, and body counts. HUGE liability.

They don't use aircraft carrier to counter us navy.
They have an anti aircraft carrier hypersonic ballistic missile yj-21 on their destroyer type 055 and 052d in uvls and type 093b nuclear submarine vls with 2500kms range for this job.
They have their 40 type 054a and their 50 type 056a to chase us submarine and all of their other warships got a complete sonar suite.
