How to install HACS in Home Assistant

Today we are looking at how to install HACS or Home Assistant Community Store in Home Assistant or Hassio. HACS will unlock hundreds of additional community made, custom integrations and elements for use within Home Assistant. A must have if you are the type of person who likes to customise!

For anyone who blindly copy and pasted the extraction like me, as of 1/15/21 there is already a custom_components folder when you unpack the zip file. if you use samba, drag and drop or copy/paste just that folder over to your config folder(don't create the custom_components folder) and then do the server restart and clear cache. got stuck for a bit but that sorted it out.

Instead of samba, I installed a terminal in HA, used wget and unzip in the terminal to download and unzip it on the raspi directly.

Thanks for all you do. I am just getting started with Home Assistant. For some reason the steps did not work. It became obvious that this video is a bit dated. I found one that uses SSH and WGET and that went well.

Great tutorial, much better than the others I've seen. I've got a problem though... I added hacs to the integrations, but when I go back to supervisor, the community add ons aren't showing up. I'm trying to get the esphome add on installed.

Thank you for your effort, videos are very nice and understandable even for beginners and that is the reason I subscribed. Keep up good work and wish You a bunch of subscribers.
One question, either I didn't catch it, or it is not mentioned in video... one HACS is instaled, how it will be further updated in HomeAssistant? Similar like other AddOns, or there it needs to be manually updated like it was installed.

Some suggestions for the future videos would be to talk about IP adresses configuration of the nodes and home assistant for people that don't have mDNS router... How to avoid problem if the router is restarted that everything will work properly. This is not covered much on youtube, usually this step is skipped in videos saying that we need to set up static IP address, but it would be good to explain procedure in details.

I had trouble with the Hacs showing up on the integrations page. The solution was to clear the browser cache/use a different browser/use incognito mode
