According to Dr Priyanka Rohatgi, Senior Consultant, Nutritionist, Apollo Hospital, nutritionally baasi roti is not baasi. As once it's prepared, it doesn't retain any moisture and thus have a longer shelf life. People in North East even have 'khameeri roti', where the wheat is kept for fermentation and its rotis are made later, which is absolutely healthy.

Dr. Priyanaka says baasi roti is completely a safe and healthy option for breakfast. In fact, it's way better than the ready-to-make oats and pohas available in the market.

Baasi roti has all the goodness of wheat, which is rich in fibre, has low sodium content and has a low GI index. All these benefits make baasi roti good for digestion and also great for controlling blood sugar level and weight loss management, adds Dr. Priyanka.
