Nickelodeon recently went off the air for nearly nine minutes, in an attempt to reach kids with an important message.

It’s amazing that Nickelodeon, a kids’ network no less, did this in this day and age. But I can’t help feel for the kids who might have been confused and angry at their favorite channel going down. I hope most of them understood what happened. They’re older then the ones that watch Nick Jr, so they probably understand more. If not, I hope they weren’t too upset with it and got clarification from their parents. As someone from Minnesota, it’s amazing to see and hear about all the support we’re getting.

I personally congratulate all those who have stood up and made a difference. Black lives are on the same level of importance as the lives of any other race, especially white people. In the words of Sly Stone "I am everyday people". However, I feel very repugnant towards those who turned the peaceful protests into violent and extreme riots where they just started looting random businesses and shops instead of just going after the police officers like they should’ve. In my opinion, the real issue here is the institutional racism and the fact that police officers often feel that they can just take their frustrations out on black people. We need to stop this so we can have less Derek Chauvins in the near future.


Despite that, Although the protest may be for a good cause, it is still breaking the law, putting our health and our health services in danger, putting our friends and families in danger, and putting themselves in danger. I just wish we had acknowledged BLM before the coronavirus became more serious

What’s so scary about this is that History appears to be repeating itself. 29 years ago, in March 1991, a man named Rodney King was inexplicably, brutally beaten by some policemen. After the officers that beat him were arrested, they were acquitted of all charges, which led to riots happening.. Sometimes people have to learn from their mistake twice in order to correct it
