Patenting a game mechanic should not be a thing. That’s like saying painters can’t use a paint brush to paint cause of Davinci

Ah yes, a throwing mechanic. A fundamental feature of gameplay we see in hundreds of games, and Nintendo happen to pick the specific idea of throwing a sphere that releases a character.

Nintendo might as well start suing games that involve the walking mechanic.

Nintendo is the very definition of a Patent Troll, they need at least that patter overturned. What Pal should have done is summoning instead of throwing. That a ring appears on the floor and the pal teleports from a phone like device the player carries on them

The patch broke the game. Now any flying pals and large pals get stuck in boss chambers.

Edit: has now been fixed.

The real change in this patch is that I now hate Nintendo.

The time and money used to generate this predatory lawsuit could have been poured into gamefreak to make a half decent pokemon game. Shows you where their priorities are.

PalWorld should not have had to change anything.

Half my pals get summoned stuck in the floor.

Its a good thing patents didn't exist before we invented the wheel, or fire. We never would have made it out of the caves. Its also a very childish argument: "I thought of it first!"

Nintendo/Pokémon will forever be known for causing this. Damaging reputation and their future sells

The pal spawn change is defintly related to the lawsuit, but the reticle change may be a quality of life improvment the second one doesnt' really effect me either.

Well if they change the summoning so that you can hold the throw button and it brings up a arrow with a pulsing circle under it where the placeable color is blue, and outside it becomes red. This would negate the summoning close and still allow for strategic placing of Pals, also if the button is just pressed instead of held it summons normally to the side of the player (as shown in the video)

From the animation, it seems like a placement for now as the lawsuit still goes on(I assume it is?) I hope something different is in the works and this is just temporary

They need to change it to shooting the pal sphere instead of throwing it

Did anyone tell Nintendo that a similar mechanic has already been created? As far as I have heard and read Nintento patented it based on the mechanics from Pokemon Legends Arceus, which was released January 22nd, 2022.
Did anyone tell them that Ark: Survival Evolved (THE OLD GAME, not the newly released game called "Ark: Survival Ascended") released Cryopods along with their map "Extinction"? I can't recall if it was exactly the same time as the map was released, but said map was released November 6th, 2018 on PC. Tried to find more specific information regarding this. All I know is that Cryopods existed way before Pokémon Legends Arceus. For those who do not know what a Cryopod is, It's the equivalent of a poké ball or a pal sphere, although you do not use it to catch a creature with it the same way you do in either Pokémon or Palworld. It functions more as a device to store your creatures/tames to free up space in the world.
When you are to release the creature resting within the cryopod you simply throw it as a grenade, you aim where you want it to land and press a button to release it.. "The player character is caused to fire a combat character that engages in combat in the aiming direction".

But yeah.. these are not American turfs they are fighting this patent war, it's in Japan and is a bit different as far as I've heard.. All I want to say is, Nintendo was not first with this mechanic and feels like a low blow to patent it and claim it as "their own idea". There even exists a similar mechanic in a GTA V through a mod and even that one existed two years before Ark: Survival Evolved's Extinction Map..

I fully expect Ubisoft to sue Nintendo over using their “map coverage” mechanic that’s been present in almost every single game they’ve ever made. Botw and Totk both use it.

Pokemon legit could not compete, they knew they couldn't do better, so instead they are just trying to hinder the competition or push them out of the race entirely. Sad really.

This means that no company will ever be able to use these type of throwing mechanics due to Nintendo.

Nintendo should not win this patent. If they do everyone will lose.
