Three Northern Harrier chicks fledged in Arcata Marsh this weekend. They've been taking short flights around the tall grass near their nest and racing each other to get food when their parents bring prey. Their mother (the brown one with the speckled breast) carries food to the ground for her young, while the father (the grey one) does a mid-air prey exchange with his offspring, just as he did for the mother while she was incubating eggs.
