Xj Cherokee Cummins 4bt first start.

First start of my cummins 4bt jeep Cherokee. This is a 1999 jeep Cherokee that is receiving a 4bt power plant with a 47rh behind it. The entire frame has been plated with 11 gauge steal to help with the addition weight and torque. I will also be adding a hybrid cage to help with the addition force. The front axel needs to be moved forward about an inch or two in order to clear the oil pan. I will be taking out the stock axels and using a Dana 44 driver side drop for the front and a Ford 9 inch for the rear geared at 3.73. Enjoy!

(Continued) I am going to counter the weight by having my batteries in the rear, building a tool box and building a tire swing. I think that will be a good offset for it.

I choose to do the RH rather than a RE becuase I didn't want to deal with a computer. I think it will be the best choice for me but that trans took me a while to find. I ended up buying a rebuilt one from someone back east(most of my cummins parts come from the eastern side of the states).
As for weight, when I dropped it down with everything connected, the body still sat level and that really surprised me. Before the swap, I put in coils from a E350 van so I am sure that helped.

My buddy just gave me a holset off of his stock 12 valve and from what I hear from my other friend that is a cummins mechanic, my set up will work great with it. I will most likely wait for my 1 ton axels before I install it though.

Hey there, sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. Any way, I have the stock H1c on my 4bt. I havent modified it at all and don't plan to in the near future.

Ok I was wondering. because mine has a HY35 and its kind of big for the low end. High end its great I can hit 25 psi . maybe I should just add some fuel haha

We can be a little heavy on the beer drinking aspect of working on rigs. My friend and his wife were cleaning the garage and I should have been helping... Ha oh well!
