BMW N54 MHD vs JB4 Stage 1 0-100km/h: What's faster?

While testing the stage 1 MHD tuned 335i we realised we had the data from the project 335i car when it was basically stock with the JB4, so in a similar state of mods. This video is a side by side comparison of the 0-100km/h runs of both a MHD stage 1 and a JB4 stage 1car. Unsurprisingly they are nearly identical, although the MHD does seem to have a little better drive-ability.

Another great video cheers guys!

I've done MHD Stage 1 on my E93 335i. Upgraded the charge pipe (VRSF), Duel come intakes (VRSF) and uprated the sparkplugs to NGK's. No issues at all and the power jump was impressive, then l changed my value cover gasket because it had started to leak and OMG its a rocket ship now, must of been a boost line blocked or in the wrong place.

Not sure if l will Stage1+ it yet... Having to much fun in Stage 1 atm :D

You didn't start in 2nd while brake boosting? These can both get low 5's/under 5 even with two drivers if you can avoid the shift.

The BMS intakes have been dyno proven to make more power. And XHP trans tune. The JB4 car had several advantages.

This makes me wonder if mhd stage 1 is worth it 😑 what do you guys think? I want downpipes but concerned about passing inspection

You also ran a JB4 with MHD BEF? How did that feel in comparison to the others and what was the time like?

i think it wouldve been more fair if they both had the intakes

Also what I was talking about in your last video rev it up to 2k rpm and it launches harder

It was probably the tires that made a difference

Hi my 335i n54 in sports mode ref stays between 5 and 7 thousand refs.no mhd or jb4

So a car with cold air intake (adds 15-20hp) has xhp software that locks the torque converter earlier and shifts faster than stock on a stage 1 map is faster than a car that's completely stock and just has a stage one map. 🤣🤣 and you wonder why it's faster?

The reason you are getting wheel spin with the car with xhp is because the torque converter locks up earlier thus no slippage and power loss through drivetrain. Not because of the tires.

The non xhp lets the torque converter slip till higher up in the rev range before locking up.

Essentially its like side stepping a clutch on a manual car or releasing it gradually.

Also the quicker the gearbox shifts the quicker the acceleration.

It's not rocket science.

I am willing to bet if you do only xhp software on the MHD car with DCI it will be faster due to a better tune.

DCI with tune adds 30whp alone definitely not fair

Map 2 on almost stock car? Is that a safe map for no mods?
