Raven Spring Report 2020

Amid all the mess in the people world, the animal world goes on seemingly unaffected. My 3 families have seemed to settle on where their nests sites are, but I am only able to film the progress of one. This is the family that nested but didn't produce any young last year. I'm happy to report they had at least 3 (maybe 4?) heads popping up the first week of April! This particular nest is high on a cliff, so I can't really get that close, however if you look close you will see when mom heads into the nest, three brand new pink and closed eye young are reaching for food. They're so little, they had to have been born within the last couple days! So I'm beginning my count down to flying time? Perhaps 30 to 40 days!

I so LOVE your videos they make my heart smile the Ravens are truly spectacular!. I live in New York not in a country setting by now means. I do however live near a lovely park. I have seen a HUGE raven who is so majestic, I sometimes see him flying around some of the trees on my block. Im guessing he likes it here LOL. He makes hia presence known but his not so subtle "haww hawww" sounds...spring is here looking forward to seeing him and more of your videos!! Be Blessed, Stay Safe!!!😊😊😊

My crows sit patiently waiting for the breads. But if anyone else wants to go out to feed them, they take off!!! There is one Raven I met and I was talking to him and he made amazing sounds!!!

Very adaptable birds. The only ones you'll see year round in the harshest of climates up north.

thanks for the great video. we have tons of ravens here, but i have never seen a nest, so it's cool to see your video of a nest with new chicks. in our neighborhood we have a crow couple that has been here for at least three years, and i've seen one of them carrying sticks lately, presumably for a nest. maybe i will be able to track them to their nesting place.

Sometimes I just wish they could talk right back, not in a mimicing way, but giving intelligent answers. When you ask: "How ya doin, what's going on in your territory?" wouldn't it be great if the Raven answered: "Well, Ed just had some trouble finding a right place for his nest with his wife Myrna, but I guess they found a good one now. My wife's sitting on eggs as we speak, so if you don't mind, I've got a mouth to feed. Nice seeing you Silver Hair! Gotta fly man! Tell the miss I said hi." Imagine that! :)

We fed a pair of ravens chicken eggs all fall and winter as a thank you for keeping the hawks away. All of a sudden they won't take our eggs anymore. Why do you think that is?

Anybody know how big a raven territory is? My friend saw some at her house today and I'm curious how far away they could be rusting from her.
