Stand In The Rain got me through being a young mom with 3 autistic kids. I felt like everything was crashing down around me & I didn’t know what to do (there wasn’t a lot known about autism back then).

I'm here from Fundie Friday's CCM video. I'm not christian, but I had CHILLS listening to Semler and it feels so good to yell "I'm fucking gay, thank God for that"! Thank all the gods for the gays 💜 We've been making the changes and the culture from the margins (especially queer people of color) since the dawn of time

One girl revolution got a whole scene in cadet Kelly 🎉

Hello, I found your channel thanks to a shout-out from Fundie Fridays! I loved Superchick and BarlowGirl as a teen and young adult (though for some reason I never actually owned any Superchick albums) and I recognized almost all the songs you played! Some of their songs helped get me through hard times in my life in my early 20's. I'm still straight though.
Another artist who has a similar blend of faith and social commentary and who I feel is severely underappreciated is Plumb. She has made songs about topics like self-harm ("Cut"), CSA ("Damaged"), men not expressing emotions ("Boys Don't Cry"), legalism in the church ("Good Behavior"), and more recently about wanting to support a friend who is gay even though she knows she will never understand his experience ("Drifting"). Plus she has a whole album of lullabies and also does just regular love songs ("Real Life Fairytale, " "Blush"). She's been making some interesting posts on her Facebook lately about wanting to be a better ally for marginalized people so I'm curious to see where she goes next!

reporting in from the Warriors fandom, where stand in the rain was iconic back in the early days of kittycat AMVs!

I thought the only way I would remember superchick by would be their song “one girl revolution”’s appearance in Cadet Kelly ( clearly the best Disney channel movie EVER, you cannot convince me otherwise). Yet now you have me wondering if that song was the catalyst to my journey of discovering my inner lesbian! Thank you for this insight!🤣

And no, it did not get a whole scene in Legally Blonde, but it was in the full spotlight of the most important scene in Cadet Kelly.

I'm a trans guy and panromantic. I loved Superchick as a teen. Trica definitely was a crack in my egg of liking girls. Also, Dawn and Wendy from Fireflight 😍

I'm an atheist now, but I still sing my heart out to the Christian bands that i grew up with

Stop I literally spit out my drink when you said that you asked if you were in the super chicken are you gay and the answer is definitely yes. Now I’m so curious more on this.

I 100% listened to superchick constantly as a kid and teen as I was figuring out I was a lesbian. The amount of times I listened to beauty from pain through major teen depressive episodes was tbh iconic

I'm not even gay or Christian, but thank god for that is my anthem

I can genuinely say that Superchick saved my life when I was a teen. I'm an exfundi and an ex cult member, and I still fuck it up to Superchick. This is a great video, by the way! Actually reminded me that I did my senior thesis on how it was so important for Christians to make "secular" music. Thanks for the funny little shot of nostalgia lol! /gen /lh

*and yes I'm now trans, pan, poly, ace, generally queer, alt af, and diagnosed autistic with adhd lmao

I just watched her video from the State of Grace series about the Christian music industry! And she put forth the question of if there was room for a queer artist when there's basically a contractual obligation for Christian musicians not to outwardly support (see the backlash Jars of Clay received) the gay community. And here she is- not waiting for room to be made but just deciding to reclaim the space that so many people dwell in and appreciate. WOW. Go Grace.

I absolutely love the music from Skillet! Well, that clip you showed has some foreboding implications. 😓

I loved Superchick and I am absolutely queer. Watched this video with my wife who was never Christian and she is equally perplexed that I used to listen to Superchick as she was over the all the songs in the last music video 😂

ALSO, I’ve never heard of Selmer but I’m going to go listen, thank you for exposing me to this glory!!

Also have the BEST day, you and your content honestly brings me so much joy.
