The slime update reminds me of the mummy movie, where a behind the scenes video shows a tortured CG artist painting mouth tendons frame by frame. I like how they made it artist friendly and intuitive. Even though it's meant for hard surface, Blender's cablerator addon could be used similarly in a more clumsy fashion. I think it has some collision and physics support. There's also the by-gen addon that applies a modifier on a mesh nondestructively with adjustable parameters.

I’m very torn on this update. On one hand i understand that in order for software to be maintained and supported over time there needs to be a steady cash flow to do so. software development costs money i understand that. on the other hand, i felt like the rug was pulled under me and a bunch of other users when they announced that upgrading your license would be over two thirds the price of what you originally paid, but you can switch to the sub model and pay half that and get all the latest and greatest tools and upgrades as they come out. I hate the idea of ‘renting” my software because you never know how your situation is going to change down the road. i recently had to change my job and am now making far less than i have in the past and currently i can’t justify spending the money on either of these options. the whole scenario just blows junks.
