Here is another hard lesson to learn as a Cyber Security Professional,
Most Businesses do not really care about being breached and losing customer data, they may say Security is their top priority, however its not.
They are certainly worried about being hit by ransomware, since that stops their Business from making money, and anything that stops the Business making money is treated as a bigger risk.

So knowing the above, do not take it to heart if your "security" suggestions as a Cyber Security Professional are not taken up, as the Business has different priorities than you.

Hey man I’m literally on the same boat, fresh out of school from IT infrastructure and trying to work in cyber security field! I am currently a sysadmin and it truly is a good role to build my foundation in IT. I see myself in the near future doing pentesting! Anyway I subscribed, and wish you the best luck on this channel! Keep it up

Here’s what you should learn from the start.

Your entire field exists because some engineering people somewhere took short cuts.

Thank you for putting up this video. I too have applied for associate security positions. I know now what to look forward to.

Awesome video, especially for people just breaking into the industry. Here are some of my thoughts to expand on what you said:

#1 – Organization
As much as I’m a fan of being able to work remotely in a lot of different jobs, for people brand new to a company and especially when it’s their first job out of school (or in the field), it’s very difficult to feel like you’re part of the company. There are so many different processes, aspects of the company, and new job responsibilities that it can be overwhelming to learn remotely.

#2 – Infrastructure
Something that I highly recommend is to take notes, make diagrams, make shortcuts, and keep everything organized. Even if this stuff never ends up being used by other people, this will dramatically make your life easier because you’ll be able to look back at the information and over time it will become ingrained in your mind.

#3 – Communication
Notes are absolutely a must as a new employee. Something that you’ll also notice is that some people prefer email, instant messages, phone, or video chat and each has it’s own level of value. I definitely recommend that you use the phone or video chat somewhat regularly because you don’t want to fall into the habit of only using email where the message can get lost in translation.

Thanks for this, it came out just in time! I’ll be starting my 1st cybersec position in a couple weeks myself with a multinational company w/no real experience outside what I learned from my degree program & these are concerns I’ve had since I accepted the offer. Hearing you talk about them makes me feel better.

I worked on I.B.M. equipment in New Jersey and New York, that's why I ask about the cultural difference.

It would be helpful to share how exactly you got the job since previous video you were talking about how hard it was since you didn't have "experience "

First off congratulations on the job. Second this video answers a few questions I have but also raises one or two for me. I am currently a paramedic who is studying for cybersecurity. When it comes to the culture what is the camaraderie like?

Would a cultural difference possibly mean a different work environment, say from working at Google, than working at I.B.M, than working at the NSA??
