The stoutland episode was heartbreaking. I hate it when our beloved companions, dogs, cat and every other animal in between is lost.

Lucario honestly sticks out to me more because he spent years believing his closest friend betrayed him, only for him to eventually learn the truth and die from the very fate he was sealed away to avoid. In terms of graphicness, Snubbull easily takes the cake, because *holy crap* was its death freaking *brutal.*

That cubone running up, crying to his deceased mother broke my heart. That was the moment that made me cry in this video. Them hugging and cubone having to say goodbye was so heartbreaking.

The Luxray one made me cry, it shows how much pokemon and pets mainly cats and dogs care about their owners.

Stoutland's death will always be the most impactful, both to viewers of the anime and those who worked on it. Sarah Natochenny, the VA for Ash, went on record saying that when she had to record for that episode, it wasn't too long after her own cat had passed away, so you could imagine the emotions she had to deal with while recording.

As a direct result of the episode, both her and Lisa Ortiz, the VA for Litten and director of the dub in general, created Voices for Fosters, a non-profit animal welfare organization. Numerous other voice actors assist with the organization as well, such as Jake Paque (Prof. Sycamore), Jamie McGonnigal (Barry), Kate Bristol (Kalos Nurse Joy), James Carter Cathcart (Meowth and James), Kayzie Rodgers (Wobbuffet), Rodger Parsons (Narrator), Alyson Rosenfield (Bonnie), and Abe Goldfarb (Prof. Kukui).

I cried ugly when I watched Stoutland die... it was a father figure to Litten and even tried to help it learn Fire Fang. Then when Litten woke up from it's uncomfortable dream and I saw that Stoutland was nowhere to be seen, I knew it had passed away. And Kukui's answer to Ash's question "I'm sorry..." broke me. Pokemon are living beings as well and they too are part of the natural order. I'm just glad that Litten would join Ash and then evolve into Torracat and then Incineroar and would also be an absolute powerhouse in Ash's Alola team.

Snubbull’s death was insane. It literally got burnt to death in an explosion. 😢

"Latios, you have to open your eyes so Latias can see what's happening"

That sentence has been burned into my memories ever since the Latias and Latios movie came out. Also Stoutland's is honestly really hard to deal with, especially when Litten sees him in the clouds and tries to rush him food...that tore at my fucking heart strings

Stoutland death was very hard to see. My dog, Sofy, saw me crying she just curled up to me. Saying everything is gonna be alright as I hugged her back.

To this day, I look back at the episode as a reminder of my dog. I miss her to this day years later.😞

Watching Pokemon die is something that always breaks my heart. I always viewed it as a fate worse than death for any child that saw the series to watch something like that happen. Back when I was growing up, the idea of Pokemon actually dying was Unthinkable to me. But when I found out that Pokemon had even taken part in ancient conflicts and actually lost their lives, it tore me apart Beyond repair. And when I saw the graves of other Pokemon while playing X and Y, it only further reignited that old trauma of mine. Even the concept of death is still present in any Pokemon film or game or TV show

Stoutland’s death was a real heartbreaker, ngl. But the scene from the Pokémon anime that brings me to tears the most is the scene where Ash “dies” in Mewtwo Strikes Back. After Pikachu tries in vain to revive Ash with his thunderbolt, he began to cry once he realized that it’s no use. His trainer is gone. All the other Pokémon began crying as well. Seeing all those Pokemon who were driven to tears makes me cry too. That scene still tugs my heartstrings to this very day. I remember watching that movie when I was younger and my family were on a trip. I first saw that scene while riding in the car back home. That scene really broke my heart and it sure made me cry. And I even saw other Pokémon movies (or at least parts of them… 😅) when I was younger such as Pokémon 4ever, the one that involved Lugia and the 3 legendary birds, the one with Entei and Unown, and the one with Latias & Latios.

Lucario’s death was hard to get over, he wasn’t just a hero, he was our hero.

It's sad to see some Pokémon actually die rather than faint.

#1 is so spot on. I'd argue that Snubbull and Luxray also deserve that spot but their scenes weren't as long (Snubbull's death was pretty grim though).

You forgot Cleffa which should have made the list. While it is the Japanese version that confirms that Cleffa was unalived by illness, English viewers were confused about what happened. The girl in this episode is trying to find a way to grieve about Cleffa’s unaliving. The older characters aren’t sure how to explain unaliving to a little girl, so they tell her Cleffa became a star. This causes Unown to cause an endless night. Towards the end, the Unown allow her to interact with her Cleffa’s ghost to get in one last goodbye. The other thing that makes this episode really sad is knowing it was a baby Pokemon that unalived. Losing a person or pet really young is really hard.
In the least with Lucario and Latios, they both reincarnated. Since Ash was the reincarnation of Sir Aaron, it makes sense the Lucario he had in Journeys was the reincarnation of Sir Aaron’s Lucario. Latios also reincarnated into a Soul Dew.

That "Pokemon: Lucario and the Mystery of Mew" is so amazing and sad.
