How do you clean old inscriptions from the Viking Age? With a toothbrush and dish brush of course!

Archaeologist Robin, who works at Upplandsmuseet, has the important role of cleaning the province runestones so that each stone's unique inscription is preserved. This stone reads 'Holmger raised this stone in memory of his sons Igulfast and Svarthövde'.

There are around 2,500 runestones in Sweden, and over half of them can be found in the province of Uppland. 🕵️‍♂

Im not Swedish but I think it's a lovely country. I want to visit Stockholm at night someday and see the lights on the islands.

Well at least we’re preserving a piece of our culture and not forgetting it.

That’s surprising to me since y’know… We haven’t been?

I have touched one of these once and have pictures from it when I was on Öland this summer. Öland amd Gotland is good for history!
