Great advice, just bought X5 50e, home charging was super slow, adjusted amps in app, no need. Plugged in directly to dedicated 20amp outlet, it only pulls 10amps, even plugged direct, on extension cord, same thing on 15amp outlet

The limitation is more at the charger itself not really at the plug. Most wall plugs can take 15A in NA.

I have a Tesla wall charger at home. Just bought a X5 45e. Do can I use the Tesla wall charger with a BMW/Tesla adapter to charge?

2017 530e (9.2 kW gross, 8kW nett capacity) BMW app shows the car takes up only 5kW when fully charged from 0%. The range is 15km @12+ deg C. BMW already replaced half of the cells and claim this range is normal. At 0 deg C it gets 10km range. Should a good battery take up full 8 kW in BMW app from your experience ? Usually I get 4 or 5, odd days 6 but not often.

My charging current in BMW 225xe always set to low . My cable is capable to support 32 A but whenever I charging in charging station it takes 8A or 16 A it’s taking more time will I change to maximum will it affect by engine I am worried I don’t tested this.. I can see another option as reduced not sure about option as well.

Thanks. Will a lower amp from a 120v home charge decrease the amount of miles charged when it reaches 100%? I just purchased a 2021 530e and at 100% charge the mileage is reading 16-17miles

It's a NEMA 5-15 receptacle, no? Why can't the BMW EVSE put out 12 amps, like the Volvo EVSE?

My apartment doesn't have ev charging. Could I use a heavy duty extension cord from my door to the car to charge? Probably a 50ft cord.

Is it normal for BMW walk box to make some miner noise when not charging? I have mine installed and I hear some low scale buzzing sounds lack of a better word. Is this normal?

I have the i4 and I set the charge max to 80 percent to extend the battery life. My wifes car is a PHEV but you cant control on the car the percentage. For PHEV cars, does it matter if you charege the battery to 100 percent or should i try to stop around 80 percent to extend the battery Life?

I have the type 2 charger, is it ok to charge always on 100%, btw i have 225xe 2019.

But that's not the problem! Always fast charging your battery will lesson the life span of your battery over time! The slower you charge, the longer your battery pack will last!

A good charger will get the current to 16A. 16A is a relatively low current and it will never damage the electronics. Even if you try to plug in a 40A charger, the car will limit the charging rate to 16A. Charging at 10A is painfully slow. So this explanation is not good.
