I have spent my life in the woods of Louisiana, some as a timber broker and many as a hunter and now as a timber grower and we have black bears, snakes, bobcats and even a stray occasional mountain lion passing through. We even have a family of Bigfoot on my property. I'm not crazy, I have seen them many times and have video and photos but they don't bother me so I leave them alone. I also carry a firearm, a .454 Raging Judge and a Colt 1911 .45, I have needed them on multiple occasions.

I am an old camp ranger, although not a park ranger and I will tell you there is no way you are going to catch me without a firearm even when I had kids in camp I would conceal carry when there were no kids in camp the rifle set on the back window of the truck And if I got out, it went with me that is what happens when you live somewhere that has bears and cougars and worst of all two legged so someone going off to be posted for a solid month in the middle of nowhere at minimum I would have 45 long colt or a 44 magnum or a 10 mm Maybe an 18 inch shotgun with buckshot and slugs I mean let’s use some common sense well at least generation X common sense
