The Pilot G2 is the go-to pen for anyone who values smooth writing and reliability. Its gel ink formula glides effortlessly across paper, making it a favorite for students, professionals, and anyone who spends time jotting down thoughts or tackling endless to-do lists. With a retractable design, you won’t need to worry about losing the cap—just click and go.

One of the standout features is the consistent ink flow. Whether you’re taking fast notes or sketching detailed diagrams, the G2 delivers clean, bold lines without skips or blobs. It’s available in a range of point sizes, from ultra-fine to bold, so you can pick what feels best for your writing style. Plus, the ink is archival-safe, which means your notes or doodles won’t fade over time.

Comfort is another win for the Pilot G2. Its ergonomic rubber grip makes long writing sessions easy on the hand, while the lightweight design keeps things from feeling clunky. The transparent barrel lets you keep an eye on your ink levels, so you’re never caught off guard mid-sentence.

The G2 comes in a variety of ink colors beyond basic black and blue—think vibrant reds, greens, and purples—perfect for organizing notes or adding some flair to your journaling. It’s also refillable, which is both cost-effective and better for the environment.

In short, the Pilot G2 is the kind of pen that just works. Whether you need it for serious writing or everyday scribbles, it’s dependable, comfortable, and endlessly versatile. If you haven’t tried one yet, you’re missing out on what might be the best gel pen out there.

I bought several G2s after falling down the rabbit hole of pens/pencils/fountain pen while researching a fountain pen I used as a kid. I remember the one remark that convinced me to give them a try, was an artist that always had G2s with him. He considered them as the ultimate pens for doodling, drawing on the go, and so on. The lines were always consistent, never skipped a beat, wonderful inflow and so on.
I'm not an artist, but for my use-case (notes during meetings, electrical schematics drawings, calculations, the occasional doodling during boring meetings) the G2 performed flawlessly.
In general, Japanese office stationary is top notch, and very, very good value for money. Be it Pilot, Pentel, Mitsubishi Pencil (Uni), they are great writing instruments.

Nice short (the size I like for a quick pen review). The G2 is NOT boring, the BIC stick pen is the absolute image of boring & you likely lose the cap within a few days of purchasing it. One thing I noticed about the G2 is the ink gets absorbed into the paper you are writing on just enough to NOT flake off later. My preferred tip size is the very fine 0.38 for detailed sketching, and journal writing, but I also like writing long hand with the 0.5 & 0.7 tips because it easily flows. Recently I tried the Pilot G2 Mini and keep it with a log book on my vehicle’s visor (unfortunately Pilot doesn’t seem to sell a refill for the mini).

I work at a casino and wrote all day every day. The G2 was my daily driver for a long time and I still love them. I did recently get a 4 pack of Sharpie brand pens that I also really enjoy. If you’re a professional of any kind who relies on a good pen you’re gonna have a favorite and the G2 .07 is up there for me

Pilot just knows how to make good pens. I used the G2 for many years.

Pilot's fountain pens are top notch, regardless of price point. Their quality assurance results in consistently good pens/nibs. They are not the most exciting in terms of design, most of their fountain pens are "boring" cigar shaped, but they really are among the best (if not the best) pens available IMO.

I love using this pen for taking notes. I use a black ink for text and use a red ink to underline key words. Works for me. Great video mate. Cheers!

You're gonna go big. Keep it up! Loved the video, and I love that pen!
edit: You should try out fountain pens as well, if this turns out to be a stationery channel, you'll go in that rabbit hole sooner than later.

Very professionally done. If this is your first video, I can’t imagine how fantastic your second one will look. Yes, the G2 0.7 is my standard, best choice pen, although I use others including fountain pens in various colors. I just bought the G2 variety 5 colors pack. I also have a G2 mini for EDC use. The 1.0 is good for grocery lists or quick jots that you don’t need to put your reading glasses on. Everything you said is true about this great pen. Welcome to the pen rabbit hole. It can be a very affordable, or a very expensive hobby, if you so choose. I choose the affordable side and there is a good variety to try at very reasonable prices.

My biggest gripe about any pen is skipping and scratchiness. in my personal experience, I never ever get that from a 1.0mm or any bold nib fountain pen. I guess thats just my preference, a juicy bold wet line that flows freely.
