How to properly scope out a problem in a coding interview

Another day another video. Today we are learning about one of the important components that goes into the coding interview criteria: Scoping out the problem.

Too often candidates will breeze over this part and it really costs them. Firstly because they skip over one of the evaluation areas but also because without proper forethought about a problem, you can set yourself up for failure in the coding section if you don't actually formulate a solid plan.

Worry not, I'll go over how you can approach this part of the interview and make sure you have it nailed down. You've spent hundreds of hours preparing for the interview, why let all of that go to waste because you were rushing to write some code?

Great vid, i saw someone on Reddit get accused of cheating because they didn't ask clarifying questions and jumped straight into coding(rightfully so imo!)

I had an interview with meta and did very well. I did make this mistake and pretty much went into coding straight away. Well, we talked about it first and I said how I was going to code it before i did it, but I didn't really ask clarifying questions. I was told I did amazing, so I don't know if this is really a huge deal breaker, but you should def do it. And make sure you talk during the coding. I didn't talk much which was a negative. You are trying to remember solution or think about what you're doing and you forget someone is wondering why you are doing what you're doing

Apart from this What would be the other three axis in evaluating be ?

Why would we want to ask how large values can be? Is this for languages other than python where you can overflow issues?

this info should just be given by the interviewer. what a hazing ritual this whole thing is.. just embarassing and cringe tbh for anyone 10+ YOE
