How can you, a UK citizen, legally live in Finland, an EU country? Did you consider Sweden instead? Are you learning Finnish? What's that song at the end of every video? I attempt to answer these and the other most asked questions in recent videos.

Sorry for giving a lot of advises in previous videos. I just wanted to help you adjusting to Finland but I also now see that it can be overwhelming or even little rude. I think that is quite common trade for us finns as we do many things that are not done anywhere else but I can assure that we do not mean it in a bad way. Happy that you choosed to live in Finland and I'm exited for all the videos in the future!

Just FYI. Being of Irish origin, I loved your stories about Irish folklore and mythology, and you inspired me to follow channels with that element. Thank you for giving me that window into Irish folklore!

At first I was surprised at just how many questions and suggestions you have received following your epic move to Finland. Then I wasn’t because I realised that your followers are heavily invested in your adventure and many of us do actually care about you guys! Wishing you both continued success, health and happiness in your adventures!

Swede here! Our loss, Finlands gain! Our darn bureaucracy... We don't necessarily like it either. Best of luck to you in Suomi! ❤

It's a lovely song. Greetings from the "Turku Archipelago" . From a Brit who came for a couple of years and still here after more than 40. Would never go back. Good luck with the Finnish. I'm still learning....

despite your folklore videos not being as ‘popular’ they will always be some of my favourite, most cherished videos on youtube and i frequently come back and relisten to them 🤍

I love the way you speak Daniel. You are so articulate and linguistically elegant :) I hope you realise that you have a real talent for storytelling and expressing your thoughts and I hope you will do something with it in the future ? Like writing a short story or a novel :)

Apart from your wonderful content, I also want to thank you for making people feel less alone: being introverted, loving nature, reading, enjoying a simple life etc are not qualities that are understood or appreciated when you live in certain countries (in my case Italy), so watching your videos and reading the comments makes me feel I am not alone and makes me proud to be the way I am .

Hi Daniel and Angela! I can’t begin to tell you how much you and the Mossy Bottom videos have touched me over the years. I thoroughly enjoy watching and am often moved to tears - especially at the end when your song - A Quaker Town plays. It’s not that I want to live the life you’re living but rather that I admire you for your courage and clarity in living an authentic life that fulfills you. Your love for the land and your connection to it is very heart-warming.

Please continue this lovely and awe-inspiring series. I imagine there are many people like me who may feel constrained by their conventional way of life, who find joy and a sense of respite in their virtual visits to Mossy Bottom.

Angela is lovely, I hope she'll be in more videos going forward. Her English is absolutely perfect, it's really impressive. Even her accent, or lack of one, is astounding!

I work in Helsinki and have several foreign born colleagues. Some of them still struggle with their Finnish, so we often speak some kind "Finglish" at work. Must sound terrible for outsiders but it works :) Finns know that learning Finnish takes time, so using English is usually perfectly fine, also when using public services. At least this is the case in the capital region. But we Finns could be a bit more patient to listen to broken Finnish and not switch to English so quickly.

Your Quaker Song is melancholic and absolutely beautiful at the same time - had not realised it was your own composition. Awesome work.

I hear you, the "normal" life is not for everybody. The system of work makes one feel trapped, like a prisoner, no freedom to decide what to do with your time (this is how I feel😉). I'm glad you found your way of living 👍.I wish you and your family all the best 🙏

Thank you for posting your videos, I nearly settled in Finland in the early 1990s and I'm now thinking about buying a second home there with the hope of living there full time. You've really helped me in making my mind up, thank you once again. x

Thank you! Yes, driving in a car is far more dangerous than being outdoors. Eating the Standard American Diet and not moving enough kills so many more people than ticks, weather or any challenges you will get there! We loved your storytelling videos! They were great right before bedtime!

On Yle Areena you can watch a program called Längtan til landet (in Swedish) or Kaipuu maalle (in Finnish) where a young Finnish couple first renovate a 100 year old school as their new home and then set up a vegetable garden. For inspiration and what is possible to grow in Finland! 🇫🇮 😅💙

I grew up with an Irish family in the U.K. and spent part of my childhood living in Ireland. I am so Irish by nature, that I don’t fit here in well here at all in the UK. I’m not polite enough, too brazen and far too blunt. A bit like a bull in a China shop.

There really are cultural differences between the two lands, even though they are so physically close to each other in distance.

Well wishes to you and yours in your new land. X

Your comments about working in a corporate environment for many years (and hating it) really resonated with me. I spent 20+ years in corporate and it just about killed me. I didn’t do well in captivity! I quit and started my own pet sitting business 20 years ago, and I couldn’t be happier.

Hello Daniel, I immediately asked that question in the comments about your animals when you moved to Finland. Hearing of the death of Moss brought tears to my eyes. But so happy that you relocated all your other animals with care.
