Mail truck won't stay running (LLV)

Just browsing through my phone and found this from when I was a letter carrier. I delivered mail for about 4 years. I've gone through 3 trucks in one day.

Mine did that for 2 weeks until they finally fixed the problem. Everytime I started it back up it would reek of pure gasoline! It was terrible!!! Finally my truck is running well again. I think they replaced the engine. I can't believe they made you continue with that p.o.s.!!!

I can relate. I've been driving my LLV for over 25 years. It came off the line in 1987. These vehicles are way passed their service life. They are obsolete for our current mission. My respects to the maintenance staff. I don't know how they keep these relics going. I'm sure a lot of prayer is involved. I'm at the end of my career, and will not see the new fleet. Until then, it's just me and old paint.

Thanks for the comments everyone! I just checked in on here for the first time in a while. Nice to see fellow mail peoples in here, haha. This wasn't even the worst day with vehicles, there was one day I went through 3 vehicles. Two flats (worn down to the belts) and a electrical problem. Ended up finishing that one in a caravan.

My mailman had the same issue! And same solution, keep starting it.

File a 1767, that's a safety issue, and for sure it will get serviced.

Yes the post office has more than their money's worth out of these vehicles. It is a safety issue and should be fixed. The unit should be put out of service until fixed.

My truck just came back from VMF they claimed they fixed it but I'm dead on the road in 90 deg weather smh this is a loaner my other truck engine shit the bed

Those trucks are old and almost at the end of there life.

Pretty easy to fix those they sit on a Chevy S10 chassis.
That's how Grumman built them
