We made a small mistake at 15:19 It is possible for the cab to automatically change according to the amp model you chose!

I pulled the trigger on this one: and especially some amps in this unit are fantastic for my ears, the matchless, dumble and friedman are a joy to play with. I know the helix has more uodates and a bigger community but i like the idea of owning the dark horse of digital effects and amp modelling :)

This pedal is a must! I have it and it is awesome. You can program everything in the computer, with a superb app… easy, intuitive and no errors.

Love John and love this “series”. It’s great to be able to see what the “newest” tech is and how close it’s getting to the old style. I think these sound great.

I have Ampero 1 and their amp simulation is crazy good. I did a lot of comparisons between it and other multi effects and I think apart from the really expensive systems like Kemper, Ampero has the most dynamic and open sounding simulations to the major amps. The acoustic simulation is also notches above other pedals. You can also do custom IR on cabs and there's a global EQ too. This is a crazy value.

I've got the OG Ampero and it changed how I perceive modelers. Best $360 I have ever spent. Run it through a decent frfr and it rocks. Def getting Stomp II. Cheers.

Digital John is a sweet name for certain! Embrace it and enjoy my friend. And POO 2 is the best preset.

I have been using one for about a month now, and I'm quite pleased with it.

you noted the difference in dynamics between the amp and digital unit. transformers are slow devices and tube amps are slow to react to transients introducing compression when the signal changes quickly and significant current is required quickly . solid state amps have less sag and this is one of the major differences in sound. The ampero 2 has a sag control in the power amp parameter section that can be changed. Perhaps you could try to see if increasing the ampero sag this would match the dynamics better. I have a digital unit without a sag control and achieve the same thing by making sure my compressor responds as quickly as possible to pick attack or other transients and effectively compresses the first few milliseconds...It sounds much more analog that way...same can be done with solid state amp.

Great video! Only 2 things prevented it from being perfect: using IRs in the Ampero as well (if not hte same as the Boss Expander, at least a similar one), and matching the volume recorded (probably it was ok in the room).

Great series and really dig John. I’m an old schooler trying to educate myself on this more digital approach. Thanks

Great video as always! Thanks. I wish processing power was one of the main items highlighted as that is always going to be the limiting factor for a more future proof device. I'll also add as both a digital and analog (amp/pedal) users, sometimes the multi-effects can give you analysis paralysis trying to match every song to a specific tone, opposed to having one amp and 1-2 drive pedals and making songs work within those confines. 98% of the time the listener doesn't know you weren't using the same amp as the original song used.. they just know clean and dirty sounds.

Great demo / review. Digital John is a great addition to th A team! And this Ampero II has a lot of going for it. I own the Ampero 1 and all I can say it is great. Find an IR that you like and the amp sims will sound and feel awesome. Or even better, run it to FX return of a tube amp + cab.

As an acoustic guy, I love how much Lee has to give comforting words to all the valve amp players during these videos. I want some comfort dang it!
