Показать описание
"Smoke Gets in Your Eyes" is a show tune written by American composer Jerome Kern and lyricist Otto Harbach for their 1933 operetta Roberta. It was performed by Irene Dunne for the 1935 film adaptation, costarring Fred Astaire, Ginger Rogers and Randolph Scott. It has been covered by numerous artists, including Nat "King" Cole who first covered it in 1946. Probably the most famous version was recorded in 1958 by the doo wop group The Platters, which became a number one hit in the U.S.
SMOKE GETS IN YOUR EYES
They asked me how I knew my true love was true
I of course replied "something here inside cannot be denied"
They said "someday you'll find all who love are blind"
When your heart's on fire, you must realize smoke gets in your eyes
So I chaffed them and I gaily laughed to think they could doubt my love
Yet today my love has flown away, I am without my love
Now laughing friends deride tears I cannot hide
So I smile and say "when a lovely flame dies, smoke gets in your eyes"
(smoke gets in your eyes, smoke gets in your eyes)
Smoke-gets-in-your-EYES
