DiRT Rally isn't really a drifting focused game. I realized I was going too fast and just slammed the brakes and pulled the maneuver out of my ass.

It's is sort of brake/inertia drift because you used the brakes to help you drift

More of a Scandinavian Flick than an inertia drift since you used the brakes to help rotate the car instead of just throwing the weight of the car from left to right

It’s called a pivot you were probably feathering the gas it’s not really drifting seeing as we have done it since the 60s you it’s caused by engine breaking and downshifting into another engine break with a good breaking technique it’s very useful in a lot of racing sports and is similar to the very fast drifting technique inertia drifting but because you were in an awd car there’s a lot of recovery from the front wheels causing you to loose speed awd cars are good at pivots but too slow sideways because of the recovery and loss of traction on the front and rear tires when you need to apply gas to perfectly land the direction you’re going this is why it’s mainly a rwd technique, I don’t know how realistic this game is or what difficulty you’re on but pivots also take a lot of skill compared to reversal drifting or powering over (the slow styles of drifting)
