The Futuro house - the most AMAZING space age home ever!

This week we paid a visit to the Swedish Air Force Museum an took a closer look at this futuristic masterpiece! The fiberglass ‘Futuro house’ was developed by the Finnish architect Matti Suuronen in the mid-60s. The first prototype was finished in March of 1968 and was soon placed next to a ski-slope in Finland. The innovative house got a lot of attention and was put into serial production. But not just private citizens found it interesting.

In 1970 the Swedish Air Force ordered three modified ‘Futuro’ houses, placed them on high concrete pillars and used them as observation towers at two practice firing ranges. One of these rare houses is nowadays owned by Flygvapenmuseum in Linköping. The exterior is totally renovated, but the interior is yet to be restored.
