We create a simple and easy mobile endless runner in Unity 3D which we will later on release for Android and iOS. And we will do it in a quick and dirty fashion. Follow me step-by-step through the process in this Unity indie devlog. Subscribe to stay updated! We will release new devlogs twice a week.

In todays indie game devlog we will implement some particle effects for when our dog is running and a glitter effect for the coins. We will also add particle effects for landing after a jump and getting hit by enemies in a later episode. The Unity particle system has lots of modules with tons of options, so it's easy to get lost quickly - especially for beginners. So I decided that this will not just be an indie devlog but also kind of a practically oriented tutorial or guide, where I show you step by step what I do and explain the settings I use to create my effects. Please let me know in the comments how you like the implemented effects and share your ideas to further improve our Unity endless runner.

Yeah Particles! It really improves your parts. You should add some smoke particles under the dog's feet so that it looks like there's grit being thrown out :)

Awesome tutorials! U know I was wondering Is there a way I could switch this around were my player can hit the enemy and the enemy will die when collided with? Something like sonic dash or talking tom heroes?

I would like to point out couple design flaws or mistakes in process of your game (you might have the idea of changing but here is my two pennies) i believe your character should be moving forward without player control (such as rb.addForce), so it can add a standard endless run challange to begin with. Player will have constant moving forward and avoid the obstacles and try to collect the coins otherwise i think player can stop and collect as he wants. Another point if player decides to not collect coins and run on the sidewalk or through the gardens, player will be able to go forever with no challange.
