I fixed the computer issue! After running commands I found online, a factory reset, and failed attempts at clean installs of Windows, I got it to work by creating a new user profile, which thankfully I could do without access to settings. Phew!

Amateur science nerd here. At several points in geological history, the area known as the Great Plains was a shallow saltwater sea. It stretched from Mexico well up into Canada. I believe it also separated the continent at times. Anyway, that’s why your father found a squid fossil - that area used to be covered in water. There are tons of fish and other sea life fossils to be found. Just thought I’d mention since you seemed so surprised. Deep Time can blow your mind. I love your blinds and need to get on my next order. Cheers!
