For extremely large databases you would be best splitting them up unless you are running a lot of memory assigned.phpmyadmin is good but if you are running very large databases(2GB+) you would be best using cli.I manage many 10+GB SQL files so I know the hassle.

I keep getting the error message: Error at the line 389: ) ENGINE=InnoDB DEFAULT CHARSET=utf8 COMMENT='Api Sessions'; (I'm trying to import the sample data from the latest Magento Community edition into my phpMyAdmin.) Any idea what I can do?

did you have to create virtual host and directory sql-tutorial initially and then but big dump along with sql file???

I get an error message during the import, "UNEXPECTED: Can't set file point behind the end of file", im assuming this is because my database is too big, how do i work around this?

after uploading to server, what address can be use to start Bigdump upload?

you don't need big dump after this is only to remove dump file of your database
