Definitely agree that it's effective. Anything stereo with 50 degrees field of view or more is supposed to be psychologicially immersive if you have correct motion parallax with respect to the other objects in the virtual world (requires position and orientation tracking). You don't need photo-realism, only black and white line drawings - as long as there is stereo rendering (correct view in each eye) and good tracking. People begin to forget their surroundings as soon as they feel immersed.

It's useful already for many things. That's why big companies and researchers buy it. If it improves, the applications will become more broad and maybe even more consumer friendly. Like jumping off fake bridges.

This is just development though. once they put everything they need in it and begin to make a consumer model (if it gets that far) it would be made much more wearable.

Agreed, but if it's going to actually be something it is in our timeframe that we will create or abandon the idea/technology for it.

Nice, will you be selling this to oculus rift owners?

I dont care how real it looks in the end i would still know i was in the room i started in.... date girl is dumb.
that said it still says manny good things about how afective the oculus is.

if you had the goggles you would understand, you may be in a room in front of a computer but the oculus tricks your brain into believing you are where you are in game. so if you jump off a cliff in a game you have the possibility of getting vertigo from it.
