A 200-500mm f/5.6 Pro lens that's similar in size to the Nikon model would be a perfect addition to the Olympus lineup! If Nikon can make a lens like that for a slightly lower price than the Canon 300mm f/4, then I would expect Olympus to be able to make one for about the same price as the Olympus 300mm f/4, and that would be awesome! I would definitely buy that lens! I've been trying to find an electronic Nikon F-mount to m4/3 adapter just so I could use that lens, but it doesn't seem that anyone's making such a thing.

The f-stop is a mathematical nomenclature. F2, for example, was originally written as 1:2, which literally means “one to two” or “one half”. It means that the aperture opening is “one half” of the focal length of the lens. So, a 50mm lens (focal length) with an f2 aperture means that the aperture is “one half” of 50mm, which is 25mm. When you put a 50mm lens with a 25mm aperture on an M4/3 camera with a 2x crop factor, that 50mm in focal length is now giving you a 100mm effective focal length. However, the aperture is still 25mm, it does not change. So, when you re-do the math with the updated 100mm focal length with a 25mm aperture opening, you now have an aperture opening that is 1/4th of the focal length, which would be written as 1:4 or f4. This is not up for debate. This is very basic math and is the standard by which all of these things are determined. So, yes, you must double the aperture number, as well, when applying the crop factor. I honestly do not understand how this very simple, basic concept is so hard for so many people to understand or come to terms with.
“It’s still an f2 lens, the light gathering capabilities do not change”
-Again, the f-stop number refers to the size of the aperture opening. Both a 50mm f2 lens as well as a 100mm f4 lens have a 25mm aperture opening and thus the exact same potential light gathering (assuming all else is equal).
“It’s still an f2 lens, the depth of field does not change”
-The depth of field is determined by the size of the aperture opening and the distance from the subject. Again, both a 50mm f2 as well as a 100mm f4 have the exact same size aperture opening. However, where a 50mm lens would allow you to be 5 feet from your subject (random distance, just using for reference) which would then give you a depth of field of 5 inches (again, random number), a 100mm lens would force you to be 10 feet away from you subject and would result in a 10 inch depth of field.
As the effective focal length doubles, so does the required distance from your subject (if trying to achieve similar framing). As the distance from your subject doubles, so does the effective depth of field.

So, for the love of God, one last time;
Whether you look at this from a point of basic math, or industry nomenclature, or even “real world use”, it ALL comes out to the same result;
A 50mm f2 lens on an M4/3 camera is the EQUIVALENT of a 100mm f4 lens in full frame terms.

Pen F Mk II (slight redesign) with a limited series set of three f1.8 or f2 lenses. (14mm, 21mm, and 52.5mm)

I'd love to see a new higher megapixel sensor plus a software update for better tracking and video

I would really like a PenF mark 2 with weathersealing. It doesn't even need any new functions. I would buy it emidiately.

I missed this Q&A, but enjoyed watching it this week. My two cents as a non-professional photographer are: 1.) Improve sensor to improve low light performance, and 2) Become the industry leader in ease of processing and transfer. An innovative method of interfacing with the digital world would be a win, and it sounds like something a diverse company like Olympus could do.

I'm really waiting for the consumer 100-400mm. Hope it will come very soon. And what Olympus should do, just go on with the original plan of world domination ;). And find a partnership with a phone maker to sell some optics and to implement smartphone camera features in Olympus cameras.

I will also love to have more film simulations, equivalent to velvia, eterna, bleach bypass, ...

Olympus should make a 400mm f/4 and f/5.6. With an MC-20, they would allow you to shoot from outside the flight distance of most wildlife. I've read that they have already filed a patent for the f/4 and if it's no bigger than the Canon model and doesn't cost twice as much like the 300mm f/4, those could be great pro lenses for sports and wildlife photography, which is one thing that you'll never be able to do with a smart phone.

A 250mm f/2.8 would also be a nice addition to the lineup, along with a 50-200mm f/2.8 with OIS, which would probably be similar in size to a 70-200mm f/2.8 for full frame (and MUCH smaller than the 90-250mm f/2.8 they made for the four thirds mount) but would be much sharper than a Canon or Sony 100-400 or a Nikon 80-400 and would be bright enough to allow Olympus shooters to be able to work in the same lighting conditions with similar amounts of digital noise, despite the smaller sensor. A 50-200mm f/2.8-4 lens would leave Olympus lagging behind its full frame counterparts in low light and contribute little to the m4/3 system since Panasonic already makes one.

So, what should Olympus do next? I would love to have a successor of Pen E-P5, with 20 megapixels, weather-sealing, joystick. 4K and both phase detection and eye af. And a tiny, affordable, fast and weather-sealed(!) standard prime lens.

I love my Pen F. Would really love a mkii with external mic port, better autofocus. Em5 mkiii in a range finder. Not fixed lens. Would buyimmediately

My E-PM2 has the hot shoe data port which supports mic input. If Olympus can’t support any mic input for proper video on the affordable EM10 mk4/EPL11, products when an iPhone can, why should I upgrade?

The cheaper cams can do without weather proofing, 20mpx and lots of custom buttons and dials. But they need all the software features like high res mode, AF and good 4K. The photo capability is already great.

I wouldn't mind a fast zoom rival to the Panasonic 10-25 F1.7 with a little more reach.

I am not all the through the video but if Olympus would release the premium line mark 2 with weather sealing, it would bring me back to the system. The pro line is kinda way to expensive to me. Sure it would bring up the price a tad, but I would not mind.

One simple question, out of Panasonic g9 and em1 ii, which has better autofocus performance?

Idea for a software addition, how about a motion and auto focus mode. This would help photograph birds on feeders or bees entering their nest?

Perhaps should Olympus build a serie of affordable, optically good, f 2, 8 small and weathersealed primes

I hope for a Budget small 80-250mm f4.5-6.3 non Pro lens for my everyday wildlife ;) greetings from Germany
