This only can be possible with the Magic of the Berliner Philharmoniker!!!!

I liked the piece very much, because it was at the same time sensitive and majestatically.
The berliner philharmoniker beat down every other orchester, I think.

Although I am not buying this arrangement, I find it very interesting that through the hands of a post-romantic expressionist Brahms can sound like Mahler.

Yo, EMI...issue the CD that this work is on. Please stop sitting on the CD and put it out. These works were made back in 2009. Hope EMI did not lose the tapes.

a superb orchestrater, i am always bothered by schoenbergs predilection for xylophone.

Though quite obviously a good orchestra, in some other ways still the usual bad way of playing this, revealing nothing. San Francisco under Ingo Metzmacher once played rings around this. I even dreaded listening to that, given how many damn times I've heard this played badly, that except for the Berlin PO having good chops, this is no exception. I actually heard it as a piece of music for the first time - the Schoenberg orchestration. Oddly sounds like Tchaikovsky's Nussknacker more than the piece at times - here that is.
