I personally fell in love with no. 6. the gentle and pure interactions between the 2 main characters really hit me right in the feels. The only thing that a disliked about the anime was the ending tho, but everything else was a 10/10 for me :)

Here’s my personal top 5 BL’s

1, Given: it’s probably number one on almost everyone’s lists, it’s such an amazing tear jerker even for me who rarely cries watching shows/movies. The animation is gorgeous, the songs are extremely good, the characters are all unique and lovable, it’s the most emotional but beautiful romance anime i’ve ever watched
2, Sasaki to Miyano: it’s quite underrated for how good it is. it’s extremely cute, probably the most wholesome anime on this list and if I didn’t love given so much, this would 100% be at the number one spot. Characters are lovable, the english dub is extremely good imo, Sasaki’s voice actor did a great job with the character and even has a higher voice when talking to Miyano compared to any other characters which is such a great detail, and lastly the animation is super expressive, no words have to be said or faces have to be shown, the animation perfectly expresses the setting and mood.
3, Grandmaster of demonic cultivation: I was really confused at first but the story ties together nicely in the end, the amazing storyline, fun characters and beautiful animation easily make up for the lack of actual romance. though it’s implied, china’s censoring doesn’t allow any real romance, but it is canon in the manhua
4, No.6: Honestly I don’t remember it extremely well because I accidentally pulled an all-nighter and binged it because I was super intrigued by the storyline and lost track of time, I definitely plan to rewatch it soon when I’m not sleep deprived to enjoy it fully, but it’s actually really good, the plot is interesting but not too confusing and the characters are decently likable, the only character I don’t really like is the Shion, the main character because he’s kind of just annoying and god, his dub voice is the most obnoxious thing i’ve ever heard so I definitely recommend watching it in sub, but Dogkeeper and Rat are definitely my favorite characters. I actually quite liked that there was only some romance and it didn’t take away from the plot, I think there was only 1 or 2 kissing scenes which I feel was a pretty good amount for the anime since the romantic relationship between Rat and Shion wasn’t really the MAIN focus
5, Yuri on ice: there may be a better anime that I just can’t think of right now but I think even then, Yuri on ice will remain at this ranking, it was the first BL I ever watched and the second anime in general that I’ve ever watched, so it holds a special place in my heart. I honestly didn’t even realize that it WAS a BL until I watched it, I just came across a clip of Yuri ice skating and thought the animation looked really pretty and at the time I genuinely thought that he was a girl. I really don’t remember it very well because I watched it quite a while ago, but the animation was absolutely stunning and the characters were fun and lovable

Honorable mention, Link click: It’s only an honorable mention because I wouldn’t exactly consider it a BL, but there is some scenes that are sort of romantic between the main characters Lu Guang and Cheng Xiaoshi, like sharing a bowl of noodles, quite a few touchy scenes and the on going manhua that released for it a few months ago also has some suggestive things in it. but OH MY GOD is the plot good, like JEEZ I could literally rant for hours about this donghua and still not be able to express how absolutely phenomenal this show is, from the plot to the characters to the animation to the music, you’ll watch the most jaw dropping thing happen and then you hear a BEEP BEEP BEEP and then the most epic chinese rap will start playing, you will be stuck bingeing this entire show without even a break between season one and season two because even the last episode of season one has the most shocking cliffhanger ever, every episode will leave you saying “HOLY SHIT.”. both the chinese sub and english dubs voice acting are great, I haven’t watched it in the japanese dub yet but i’ve heard it’s good, but I definitely recommend watching it in whatever language you’re most familiar with, since the storyline is complex, to keep from confusion it’s best to stick to what you know, and reading subtitles the entire time imo takes away from the whole experience of the show. anyways I’ll shut up about link click because I’ve talked about it more then any of the actual BL’s but believe me when I say, IT IS GENUINELY THE BEST SHOW I’VE WATCHED IN MY ENTIRE LIFE. It beats every piece of media I’ve ever consumed

No.6 was definitely one of the best BL’s I’ve ever watched, it was confusing at first but I soon understood the story, it also really made me enjoy each characters, it did lack romance for me but even the little kiss shion gives is all I ask for 🔪🤧

So far, GIVEN is the most beautiful BL anime that I have ever watched. The build up of the story is smooth, the details are well-thought of and storyline in general is just great.
If you are someone who is a sucker for sheer romance less with the unnecessary antics, then GIVEN is definitely the one for you. Watch the series first before the movie version btw. ;)
GIVEN is definitely my top 1, TWITTERING BIRDS NEVER FLY as my top 2 and BANANA FISH for top 3.
