At least episode 1 DOES PROVE that Junji Ito’s works CAN BE ADAPTED and be adapted right, all we can do is pray that some studio ends up making an adaptation of another work that stays consistent with good quality.

I feel so bad for Junji Ito bc, unlike Kentaro Miura, he doesn’t have a grave to spin in, he’s just witnessing everyone fumble his work over and over again 😭

Junji Ito:"Would you PLEASE give my work a proper adaptation?"

Studios:Nah, We'd Fumble

They spent 4 years on episode 1 and forgot they have 3 others to make 😭

We went from absolutely jaw-dropping visuals to the characters looking like they are running on treadmills.

I think it’s an amazing example of the impact of what crunch culture does to the finished piece

Supposedly, there were a complete new team that made ep2 and forward with the main director supposedly being known for hentai

I heard another YouTuber say that the drastic drop in quality was because when the producers saw how expensive the first episode was to make Uzamaki had the choice of canceling the anime, only releasing a few episodes or drop the quality and release the entire thing

first episode was impressive, but we all know that nothing can truly live up to Junji itos pure art and impact. a still image can hold so much more words than an animated scene with no oomph.

the studio that did episode one got done dirty

The sad part is it's not even the animator’s fault. The network screwed them over and they decided to release what they had instead of having the work go to waste.

tbh I’ve gotten over my anger and I’m just happy we got a great first episode

I firmly believe that any studio that wants to do a junji ito story well, needs to have it be a passion project.

They give a team the project with no deadline. Quality over quantity. I don't see it ever happening in the current economic system, but i think thats what its going to require in order for his stories to be made in another medium really well.

I think it can still have a large impact on the anime industry. If Japan actually sees just how much rushing an anime can ruin it and how overworking your employees just makes them tired and have worse work then I think something good can still come out of this. Especially if they realize they fucked up what could’ve been one of the best anime ever

I feel bad for the team that worked on Uzumaki. Straight up sucks that someone higher up screwed them over.
That explains the delays.

They definitely blew their budget in episode one

Apparently the publisher fired the animator or something and did a change for the entire team. So blame them

generally in anime, its jumpscare effects from the manga was lost due to the bgm, dubbing, and just the vibes. i recall this happening in promised neverland when the twist was so anticlimatic since they made a scene suspenseful in the anime when the manga didnt make it so

to be fair tho, that first episode went hard enough i didnt mind the next episodes being sub because that makes wanting to check out the og manga that much more appealing.
