Charon: Bad and naughty souls get put in the PAIN RIVER

Charon is the most cutthroat businessman, if you're broke he sends you to the third worst punishment in Greek mythology. First and second being Tartarus and whatever Zeus can think of off the top of his head.

In Russia (and probably not only there) we have a saying "to sink in Lethe", which means "to be lost/forgotten forever"

The river of forgetfulness, the water my dad uses for his tea in the morning.

Dante talked about those rivers too. And Cocytus was a frozen lake in the ninth circle of his hell.

Apparently making an oath on the River Styx was serious enough for Zeus to go supernova on one of his side chicks because she didn't think he was Zeus. It begs the question on what happens if you don't follow through with your vow over the Styx

This is why Vikings buried their dead in boats.
"Two coins for paym- what the f..."
*boat full of Norsemen row past Charon all flipping him off*

I'm someone who absolutely adores mythology, but I'm perfectly willing to admit there's many things I don't know. I was certainly unaware of the various rivers within the Underworld.

I feel like I'm the type of soul that would just swim in every one of those rivers for the hell of it

Fun Fact: have you ever wondered what happens when someone breaks a Styx oath? Well, I'll tell you. If a human breaks the oath, nothing will happen because the Styx oath only has an effect on the god's.

When a god breaks the oath, they will lie breathless, spiritless and voiceless in a heavy trance while lying on a strewn bed for an entire year. That means when a god breaks a Styx oath, they are, for all intents and purposes, dead for an entire year (think back to when Klaus from the originals daggered his siblings). Once a full year has passed, the Styx curse still continues as it's stated that the god is not allowed to interact with other god's.. for nine years. The curse is Only lifted on the tenth year

I remember the name Cocytus, because it’s the Japanese name of MetalGarurumon’s ice breath attack from Digimon.
