EUROVISION
Aussies woke up to good news this morning as Voyager made it through to the Eurovision grand final. Voyager, the synth-metal band representing Australia at this year's Eurovision song contest, made it to the grand final with their song 'Promise', which was the last performance of the second-semi final. The band wrote the song specifically for the Eurovision stage. Voyager has had quite the voyage to reach this point, exploding into the scene back in 1999 and trying for years to get into the beloved song contest. They'll hit the Grand Final stage early on Sunday morning, hoping to make history and become the first Aussies to take home the win. But, you know, no pressure or anything.
YEEZY ADIDAS
After months of trying to figure out what to do with millions of unsold Yeezy shoes, Adidas has finally come up with a plan! The sportswear company cut ties with rapper Ye, also known as Kanye West, in October last year after he shared anti-Semitic views, which are offensive and hateful towards Jewish people. It left them with about $1.3 billion worth of shoes they didn't know what to do with. But now, the company has announced it's going to sell them and donate the money to charities and organisations that support people who were harmed by Ye's comments.
NEW TWITTER CEO
Twitter's CEO, Elon Musk, says he's found a new chief executive for the social media platform! He hasn't revealed who it is yet, but we know it's a woman and she'll be starting in about 6 weeks. He also said he'd be transitioning to the role of executive chair and chief technology officer, which will look after product, software, and system operations.
PUZZLE COMPETITION
Are you any good at puzzles? Do you reckon you could finish one under pressure? Well, some talented puzzlers from SA have battled it out in a big competition, and they're pretty speedy!
HOBBIT HOUSES
Four sisters in Bosnia have been busy building the first Hobbit-style village in south-east Europe. Inspired by The Lord of the Rings series, the village will feature several hobbit houses decorated with local materials. The sisters hope that the village will attract tourists from all over the world.
ALLIGATOR IN DRAIN
Now, to a 1.5-metre-long alligator in a stormwater drain in the US. Road workers in Florida first thought they had spotted a toad, but as they sent the robot camera further down the drain, they discovered this snappy surprise.
PUPPY PROM
Finally, pampered pooches strutted their stuff at the annual Puppy Prom in San Diego. There were all sorts of canines in all sorts of costumes. But there can only be one prom king and queen, and this year that was Bitsy and Bear, the Yorkshire terriers. The puppy prom, now in its 9th year, is all to raise money for the local animal centre.
