Nintendo 3DS - XL Unboxing

We've got our hands on the new and unreleased Nintendo 3DS XL.

iPad 2 vs 3: different CPU, different memory, different resolution, different graphics chip, etc. The new iPad will be replacing the iPad 2.
3DS vs XL: different size screens, slightly different buttons and stylus, different batteries, rounded corners. All of the internals are the same. The XL will not be replacing the 3DS.

3DS vs XL differences makes the iPad 2 vs 3 look like night and day.

Is it going to be the same size in body scale as the DSI XL? What happens if I buy a DSI XL now, will it be deemed on as old once the 3DS XL is released in America next month? Or will it just mean that I have a good DS but just not the 3D one?

I want a ds but I nervous that as soon as I buy one Nintendo will be dropping a new handheld, is the 3ds XL worth buying because I been anxious to play monster hunter 3 & 4 and Pokemon X & Y

because every other console has had it for years now, we don't use joysticks anymore either are you going to bring that up too? the Wii and GameCube both had 2 analog sticks so your argument is completely invalid. they didn't add it on purpose just so that people would have to buy a super sized version of the circle pad pro.Nintendo is just as greedy as Apple, they release nearly identical products every year with only slightly new features at full price.they made 4 DS models, i mean come on now.

Definitely get the XL. Obviously I don't have one myself, but I have a 3DS, and although it is extremely fun, I find it very uncomfortable to hold for long periods of time, especially when playing games like Mario Kart. Most reviews seem to be very positive too. I'm highly considering getting an XL myself. It's worth the wait.

This is almost exactly what I was hoping for. It's just a shame they didn't go ahead and add the second circle pad. Now I have to decide if I want to get this now or wait about 3 years for a redesign.

True that touchscreen control is more precise than what the second circle pad can offer. Like playing fps with mouse on PC. However, touchscreen control block instant access to all right-sided face and shoulder buttons.

It's a Europe-exclusive deal I believe, but to make it short, if you register your 3DS XL before a certain date they send you a code to download either Super Mario 3D Land, Professor Layton: Miracle Mask, Art Academy and two other games.

Believe it or not, but the nintendo dev team said that the way the speakers inside were built hinders the sound quality, and they tried as best as they can to get the sound quality close enough to the 3ds

Heyy, I want to buy a portable gaming device but I don't know if I should go for the PSvita or 3DS XL.
PS: I'm talking about gaming experience.

I actually "know" someone on the inside and they said that there is a slight blur/pixelated look when playing 3ds games. They also said at first glance it is not that noticeable but after about an hour of game play they had to go out so they took their original 3ds because it actually fits in a normal size pocket and the clarity difference was unbelievable. So when they got home they did a side by side comparison with the same 2 3ds games and the original 3ds beats the XL in sharpness by 75%

Can you tell if the top screen touches the border around the bottom screen when it's closed? The current 3DS is plagued by this issue which causes some people to get scratches where the two screens come into contact

this is why I wait a year or so after a new system comes out, they always have something better after. Getting a 3DS XL for sure.
