When I first saw this I had two thoughts; “Wow, what a major production”, and it reminded be of “We Are The World”. Backed by the two choirs “A Thousand Voices", Opera singer Bryn Terfel sings the song in both Welsh and English, and Shirley, wearing the Welsh flag sings the English lyrics. The song was another hit for Shirley, charting #35 on the UK’s Singles Chart. The song lyrics are timeless and suitable for this time in history where the world is everything BUT united in union. “The World In Union” is the theme song for the Rugby World Cup that attempts to capture the spirit of international friendship which exemplifies rugby union culture the world over. The song was written in 1991 by Gustav Holst and Charlie Skarbek.

Glad to know Holst wrote this, since the entire melody is basically lifted from his work The Planets. It would really piss me off if he didn't get credit for it.
