53 surgeries and counting. That's what it's taken to keep a burn victim alive three years after a helicopter crash left him with burns over 90 percent of his body. This is the story of his path to recovery.

Having been burned myself over 40% of my body at age six I can truly understand to the pain  and struggles. I thank God every day for the Shriners Hospital in Galveston for the unbelievable care and support. You are such an inspiration. Thank you for sharing your story.

Oh my goodness! That’s an amazing recovery! My husband in ‘86 was in an explosion and drug induced coma for two months.
He had a 3% survival expectancy. 73% 2nd and 3rd degree burns. It’s a huge healing process.
You sir are a living proof of a miracle! God Bless you!❤️

Man, the absolute strength of that guy is incredible. I'd have stayed at the "I want to die" point. He's a hardier person than I think I could be in that situation.
