In this video I talk about a couple of new course that I come across that can get you to become a professional penetration tester without having any prior experience or a degree.

I review @TCMSecurityAcademy and TryHackMe both are great resources.!

❤You helped me make up my mind to transition to Cybersecurity even with no tech background. Just listening to you makes me believe I can do this. Thank you so much!

Hey UnixGuy, I have a few questions and wondering where I should start. I have no background in IT, I did build my own desktop over 5 years ago and seen a few cybersecurity on YouTube. I was wondering if I should start with the eJPT cert? If so, what other information should I learn/know before I take a deep dive into it? Or would the INE class teach me everything, including the basics?

I love your videos. I've been watching for about a year, and it has really helped sort out a solid path towards cyber and pen testing.

I'm going through INE's eJPT course right now. I'm currently a network engineer(DNS and IPAM), and have only been in IT for 2 years. (Network engineer isn't the right title for this job, but I'll take it)

The biggest problem I have is impatience. I want to learn everything now. The second is choosing the "best" program to follow. There are so many great programs, but I can't escape the FOMO of other potentially better programs. Such as Cyber Mentor, John Hammond, David Bombal, as well as other cybrary and udemy creators.

Something I've realized is that as long as you start somewhere, anywhere, you're farther along than you were yesterday. That's something to be proud of.

Thanks for your content. I do consider you a mentor. Excited for what you post next.

Thanks for the video, you gave me a good reference to the things i need to study on.

So about the TCM course, do I need to understand basic computer troubleshooting or networking before taking the course?

Hi Unixguy, I found your channel through recommendations, and your videos have inspired me and helped tremendously. I want to get into cybersecurity, I am not sure yet exactly in which area, but Pen-testing does interest me. I currently have 9 months experience at an MSP. I will have a bachelors in CIS w/ specialization in cybersecurity soon and I have Comptia A+, Net +, and Sec +. I plan to focus more on doing hands on labs. I am thinking that I should start off on blue team and have the option to switch to red team. Will that be enough experience to get an SOC/ Cyber Analyst role?

I really appreciate your recommendations especially your advices regarding the different paths for blue team and red team. I am about to graduate and get my Bachelor’s in Computer Science. I am also currently working on the Google Cybersecurity certificate. I like this certificate a lot since it is very beginner friendly as you said. My question is which should I take first the Practical Ethical Hacker or the Blue team level 1? I want to be an ethical hacker/pentester, but I am also not sure if it is for me. Also, another question, would it be faster to get my foot on the door of cybersecurity through blue team like cybersecurity analyst or SOC analyst? I really appreciate what you do and your videos. I have watched most of your content. I’m just thankful for being a mentor to us. I hope that you would be able to answer as I want to take the next step.

I’m getting my comptia security + December 13th. With the TPM website should I just filter out what I think I already know and also is scripting a must know for a pen tester

First I'd like to to thank you for your videos. I've been thinking about getting the ejpt and ewpt certification. Do you think it would be worth it to go for those two? Or should I go for CompTIA's PenTest+?

Hey brother greetings for the day, a great video as always no doubt in that. I want to ask is that I am confused in what should I pursue should I go with Penetration Testing or Cloud Security, like I have interest in both and really confused, when I think about one I have a FOMO of other. Now I want to prepare for cert but I am confused like for which to prepare, eJPT or AWS from cloud guru. Thanks.
Edit: Also, which has great future?

As someone who's 36, this sounds like an awesome career path and exciting as I've always loved networking and computers since I was 10 years old. But let's me honest am I too old at this point to really have a chance and not just be laughed out before ever getting in? Honest question recently went through some life changes diagnosed with PTSD and a new career path is a must.

I have no cybersecurity knowledge or certifications currently, but i do come from a software engineering background with 3+ years of professional experience. Would you still suggest that I nosedive directly into the PEH course by TCM, or should i start off with something like Google's Cybersecurity certification, and build upwards from there?

I want to really really thank you for all things you talk about I have been 3 months searching for my self what’s the best and from where to start and what to do. I wish good health and life for you brother. I really grateful. I want to ask you. I want to go to institute for cyber security to teach me the basics. Do you suggest that?

Hi UnixGuy. Do you recommend any of the certifications from the EC Council?
