My mom's mother was LDS, or rather, her parents were. She was supposed to go to Sunday School at the LDS place across the street from the Catholic church, but she would sneak away to go to Mass instead. She decided she would marry a Catholic man and become Catholic. And she did. That was in the 1920s-30s. But my Catholic godmother, whom my mother chose because of her devotion to the Church, stunned everyone by becoming LDS and marrying an LDS man. We have remained close, but it was only a year or so ago that she told me that the Catholic Church had hurt her very badly when she was a young woman. Please pray for her and her family.

Please, brothers and sister, I beg you to pray for my home of Salt Lake. Pray for my family and friends that they may be led to Christ’s true Church. Evangelism doesn’t work. Only the Holy Spirit can help them, they are in dire need of our prayers.

Joseph Smith forced my thrice great grandmother into marriage when she was 19 years old. Saying that the Lord had sent an angel of death wielding a sword against him that would slay him if she wasn’t sealed to him as his wife. And she was old for Joseph.

I grew up Mormon and I pretty much completely agree with everything that was said haha! As he said I learned a lot of great values growing up Mormon but I never knew God. And most Mormons I know, not all of them, but the majority don’t really have a relationship with God. Through Gods abundant grace and through His humbling me I am now Catholic. I left the LDS church at 12 but it took me until 22 to find the Truth in Catholicism. It was a messy journey, but my Jesus is so good! This may sound crazy to most, but through the ancient faith: Orthodoxy and Catholicism I finally learned that God loves me. It was through Catholicism that I learned that God made me for Himself. Praise God for leading me home! Poco a poco mi familia little by little my brothers and sisters

Should we really be advocating burning books? People are gonna make their own choices. Forcing them to believe something never works and even though I believe Catholicism to be true I do not think we should be engaging in censoring other ideas and belief systems. Rather rationally defend our faith and convince others of the truth.

Smith didn't meet God or an Angel in that forest, IT WAS A DEMON!

That's quite a strong clip and music to share here. While I happen to agree on the basic premise (as Michael Quinn and Grant Palmer's research shows Smith was involved in folk magic and the occult, forged ancient scriptures that advocate for things contrary to Christian teaching, such as the first disobedience of Adam and Eve being noble, and drew a lot of his theology from sources I care not to mention here), the message we Catholics can share is that God remains faithful in spite of the actions of one obscure leader.
Joseph Smith said, "I have more to boast of than ever any man had; I am the only man that ever has been able to keep a whole church together since the days of Adam; a large majority of the whole have stood by me: neither Paul, John, Peter, nor Jesus ever did it. I boast that no man ever did such a work as me; the followers of Jesus ran away from him; the latter day saints never ran away from me yet."
~Joseph Smith, Sunday, May 26, 1844
We Catholics can show, on the contrary, God keeps His promises and remains with His people unto the end of the age (Matthew 28:20). Offering hope is primary. It was a fine podcast, and Stephen approaches Mormonism accurately and sensitively.

Sincerely, a Catholic convert from Mormonism

Catholic here in England, I think burning books is maybe going in the wrong direction as it could have negative connotations, such as people referring to Adolf Hitler, and his nazi followers who were burning books in the 1930s everything that Hitler, disagreed with,

Everything said in the clip is true, that being said I think the music is counter productive

The LDS congregation’s message is to love God, love your family and your neighbor. Their work ethic is incredible as the head of the household will work to keep a roof over their heads. While some of their beliefs are somewhat misunderstood, as a whole, they have a good system and live the sanctified life. This is more than anyone can say about Christian congregations who do not have righteous standards. The Bible, mainly Jesus, has said, “ many sheep I have that are not of this fold, “ and I believe, the LDS are such sheep. One day they will be bc they love their families. The family was created during creation week and thus is a blessing to have.

Is it true that Tim Ballard, the man a Sound of Freedom is based on, is Mormon? If that’s true, the LDS is producing heroic men and women (his wife is as much a hero as him). What are we to think of that?

Nah, burning books doesn’t eradicate an idea. It only amps up the persecution mindset. I say keep them around but expose the lies and its inherit foolishness. That kind of embarrassments will render them useless

LDS here. I’m interested in what you guys have to say, I would just recommend reading the Book of Mormon and digging into church history more before saying it’s demonically inspired

“Oh if I prophet came in our day we would recognize him”. Well boys I testify that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and we have a prophet on the earth to day in these last days. But just like the Pharisees and Sadducee’s of Jesus day you can’t recognize him because you are spiritually blind.

Many Catholics live in places where their neighbours think this of the Catholic Church. I am absolutely not OK with this tone. Let's win souls with love and grace.

The burning of books in any case does not seem to be a solution to anything.

By their fruits ye shall know them. Elsewhere in the podcast you state that some of the very best anti-porn and other charitable work is done by members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormons), you both state that LDS families and communities are good, and aside from the fact that you find our 19yr old missionaries annoying and less religiously educated than yourself, I think you view all the fruits of the LDS people you know as very good. So how do you reconcile that with saying it's demonically inspired? Thistles of figs?
